Well I put up a good fight but I give in I am going to quite ! I am not going to recount all the details but due it all hit the fan today :crying2: Two weeks or so ago I was in an car wreck on the my way to work I hurt my shoulder and ended up with disks pressing on my spinel cord causing me to lose some felling in my hands and legs .

I work on the 2nd floor and my office has no elevator so yesterday after almost killing my self on the step trying to more or less craw up them at this point it I had had anuff and told my boss it was hard for me to walk up the steps . today I was called down to HR and told that they where going to fire me today for messing up ( due to a medical problem I have control of ) but because they "love me" they are going to give me a job down stairs :yeah: sounds good right ? the problem is I have to take a pay cut ,I am also being made to work 40 hours when I olney work 32 now and I have to be there at 7:00 am (i have no ride at this time ) I also am NOT soppiest to lift anything heavy ,use my bad arm ,or stand up for to long ! I am in quite a lot of pain and the idea of having to be up for 8plus hours a day is killing me . they also told me I was in bad standing and would never be rehired ? and they cut off my health care with 4 days notes  thank god I have medicare as a backup .

well thats my vent ,please not cracks on the spelling today :)I always said I would go back to school if I lost my job but how in the world am i going to do that now ??

I'm getting the feeling that the car accident and related injuries were not documented or reported to HR as a reason to put you on light duty.

I'm just not sure why you didn't address the problem right away...I would have presented the documentation from your dr telling of your work limitations and asking to be moved to the first floor due to the fact you can't walk the stairs. I cannot believe that the VA doesn't have an elevator though...that's crazy. Talk about discriminatory toward the disabled..and at the VA!!!!

Anyway...I just get the feeling that you have been letting this all happen to you rather than take charge and make your needs known. they can't help you if you don't tell them what you need. I do agree that the healthcare issue needs addressed...I wouldn't quit either but I would talk to someone further up the HR chain to get some answers...after you have all your documentation i a row.

I know you can't be getting Medicaid and SSDI and working as a nurse at the same time. Your SSDI and Medicaid should have been history when you went to work as a nurse and don't be surprised that's the decision when the system catches up with your activities. As far as I'm concerned, you're disqualified from benefits since you're already on Social Security's benefit system, dude. Get real! You either get benifits under SSDI and do NOT work or work and sacrifice your SSDI!

The amount people are allowed to earn on SSSI or SSD are different for each person. But people CAN be on disability and earn up to a certain amount without losing benefits.

She is not a nurse.

Dude....

PLEASE go back and spell check your post.

Being legally blind, it's not always easy for Trek to see the computer screen well.... it's not always in someone's control. :)

Ya I know I am getting rich off of that $500.00 a month :yeah: wow I am so rich why should I want to work? and by the way I pay taxs to ! let see how munch does it cost you to get to work? it cost me $450.00 a month thats just so I can get there are back add on $100.00 cash forr a round trip cab that last time I had to go to the doctoer and $60.00 cash to go to the store because I cannot drive . would you like to switch lives for month ? and then tell me if you would apply for ssdi or not ? by the way I did not work for 6 years because I could not get a job with my diabilty and at that time I did not get ssdi and had not income and then I got a big $300.00 a month from ssdi .

Well I'll just day it's highly irresponsible to spend 100 bucks on one round trip taxi cab ride. If I was on a budget, I'd use a bus and save my money! Who's fault is it that you chose a 100 dollar taxi when a 5 dollar bus ride would have done fine?

Do you know anything about the OP??? Do you know FOR SURE what the rules are for earning while on SSDI? Or being legally blind? Unbelievable.

So, Onradar, since you know so much, you surely know where the OP lives, and that there is a bus route right past their house, directly (or with few stops) to their place of employment.

No one ever lives anywhere that is not on a bus route, or in a town that does not have strong public transportation, ever. People dont live outside of cities, where there is no such this as a bus, let alone a 5 dollar bus ride....

As xtxrn said.... dude...

Legally blind? Who's legally blind?

Legally blind? Who's legally blind?

The person you keep telling is irresponsible and sucking the life out of taxpayers.

Ever clarify something BEFORE attacking?

Oh that is a very nice loophole I didn't know about! Good job! I apologize.

So being legally blind is a "very nice loophole"??? Am I understanding you correctly?

Being on disability is something to mock, and making an effort to be part of the workforce-- and paying more taxes, is something to degrade?

Just clarifying :)

I am reading this thread just saying WTH? Why so much attitude towards OP? I agree that there IS more to this story but do you have to be so easily ready to attack people?? You seem very proud of collecting unemployment from the east coast to the west coast....just sayin'

OP-I wish you well and hope you are able to find some work, I think I would still contact your HR dept and let them know that you did try and present them with the correct kind of note regarding your restrictions, and let them know that what they are purposing to change you to is not going to work with your other disabilities. I think you kinda jumped before you had to, you say you thought you were going to get fired so you quit. Now they are very happy cause they do not have to worry about making things right for you, knowing in the back of their minds they cannot legally let you go for a disability. You let them off the hook and maybe made things very hard on yourself, just my 2 cents, take it or leave it.
