VENT: Lazy People!!!!

Published

I'm sorry, I know it sounds harsh but DON'T ENROL IN COLLEGE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO DO THE WORK!!!!

I'm so sick of hearing people come here and ask people to feel sorry for them because they fell asleep in clinical and got kicked out, or because they decided not to do their work and failed.... You are in College, not elementary school GROW UP, take some responsibility, and until your ready to do that DROP OUT OF SCHOOL quit waisting the money!!! Quit making stupid excuses, it only makes you seem dumb and immature!

**** Please understand that I'm not speaking to those who are trying and make an honest mistake, only those that seem to think everything should be handed to them with no effort on their part.

Is it just me or do you run into people like this too????

I could care less what other students in my nursing program do or don't do. That is their problem, not mine.

I'm only there for me. Much less stress that way.

Best,

Diane

Yes, these kind of people are annoying, but people in general can be irksome - learning to deal with different personalities, moods and quirks is probably close 50% what being a nurse is about. Quarrelsome patients, moody physicians, irritable coworkers, etc. Practice now, darling, there's plenty more to come! ;)

We are not aware of the circumstances other people have. I am only speaking for myself and the things I have seen. I am very hesitant about passing judgment because everyone has a life outside of being a student. I remember my friend telling me a story of a woman who was in nursing school and had three young children and a mother in hospice. Now I am sure she was tired! But in regards to the people who dont just give a da*n life catches up on them eventually!

Thank you!

I had fun finding it :D

Happy Holidays,

Diane

Just last week 2 students in our school contacted the local newspaper to complain that the HESI was dropped on us at the last minute, and they failed the semester as a result of not meeting competency on the HESI. The HESI was included on our syllabi in August and it was reinforced for 4 months that we would require a minimum of 850 to pass the semester. Poor babies...had they been doing the appropriate preparations for the NCLEX since day one of the program (like the rest of us:yeah:) they probably would not have failed. But now they want to blame the program? Whatever. :banghead:

1.I seen some really smart people with potential to be great nurses fail because they either partied to much,or worked.

2.But the best was one girl who came 45 minutes late on the day of the final with her hair washed and wet and was doing make up in the car!!!!!

Of course she didnt make it in that class.

Happy Holidays..

If people want to slack off then as long as it doesnt affect you then why get yourself worked up?

Admittedly if they are chatting during class etc and its is affecting you then yes, get upset and complain

But at the end of the day its their lives and we cant do anything about it

Some people cannot take responsibility for their lives, either because someone else has always jumped in and taken it for them, or because they have not yet learned those life lessons for whatever reason. Some people don't realize how necessary quiet is for others to focus, and how much they could get out of focusing as well. Some people just don't know how not to speak, even if it means their grades. Some people pick the wrong friends and follow them into the wrong activities and time-wasting when they should be studying.

I see it. I hate when it affects class time, but teachers only have so much patience. I have to specifically study where I don't expect these types to show up so that I can concentrate. I expect them to fail out sooner or later, and then it won't matter anymore. I don't have the time or energy to care what they do, beyond how it affects me, which is very little.

I actually say a single prayer almost every single day of my life. I'm not an alcoholic (its a prayer often said in AA meetings) but it gets me through and reminds me of where i need to focus, when I get the sudden urge to strangle someone who is wasting class time with nonsense or causing unnecessary drama.

"Goddess grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."

Just to clarify,

It's not that I really care if someone does their work, reads their chapters ext.... I just don't want to hear someone cry/whine/complain because he/she made no efforts and is now failing! And I also don't want those same people asking to cheat off of me, copy my work or even do their work for them! (Yes I've had people ask me to take their online tests for them...)

Your not even in the first semester of nursing school yet,(I see from your title/yrs experience you start in Jan) so what are you worried about? Your were talking about "clinicals" in your first post...but you haven't even been to any yet. I'm just curious as to why you seem so irate about something you didn't even experience yet? Yes your reading other people's posts, but sheesh, I'd hate to see your attitude in the clinical setting.

That information may well have been there since she became a member in Jan, 2007.

I'm sorry but I just don't see how somebody can be so mad over something(due to the all caps/exclamation points) just from reading other people's posts. Nursing school is very hard and things happen, I don't think most of these people are lazy, especially for making it as far as they did. Until she walks in their shoes, she shouldn't make judgements...but then again who am I to judge, lol, but my point is...I just don't understand.
