Hi all!

I'ved applied to VCU's 2015 accelerated BS program and now am waiting for January to come...3 months is going to go by too slowly but I'm so excited too!

I'm reaching out to any current applicants to learn about you and your background...please share! :) I'm currently an Athletic Trainer and have been working in this field for the past 11 years but have decided to take a turn in my career and become a nurse! I'm hoping my experiences will be in my favor.

Also reaching out to previous & current students to ask you your tips for success in the program. Please share anything that works for you!

Hi just checking in to see if anyone on the waitlist has heard anything else? I know the first round of waitlisters were already chosen and was wondering if anyone has been pulled off the waitlist since then?

I would like to know this as well wrtrldy! I was #6 after the first round update and #13 to begin with. Praying 6 people decide to go elsewhere!

I'm #12. So, it's probably a longshot for me to get in. But, a girl can dream! If you hear anything, will you let me know warnerjj? Thanks!

Hey waitlisters - good news from the inside: people are still being pulled from the waitlist! Idk how many and idk if you'll get another update from the SON about your rank, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you all :)

Allie was right! I GOT IN!!!!!! I was #6 on the updated waiting list. I AM SO FREAKING HAPPY NOW!!!!

Congratulations!!

CONGRATULATIONS @warnerjj! :)

Hi Alliegem, I'm really not sure if you can answer this (and/or know). However, I don't want to email VCU about it because I know that they said they can't let us know where we sit on the waitlist now. I'm at least #6 at this point (with the revised wait list) and I was wondering what you think the chances are that I will get pulled at this last minute/late hour? I'm asking because I have scheduled a trip to England on May 10th. Obviously, I'd rather get pulled off the wait list and go to VCU. However, here in lies the dilemma - VCU says that people can get pulled off the wait list the first week of classes with students dropping out...I know you can't tell me 100% what will/might happen - but with your previous experience in the nursing program - did you find that people were still being pulled off the waitlist the month before and/or dropping out the first week? Again, I know it's all subjective based on the year etc. Just seeing what happened last year...Thanks for any help/advice/insight :)

Hey wrtrldy,

I'm honestly not sure. I think we had around 15 people pulled from the wait list for our cohort, but I can't give you an exact number. I believe there were still people being pulled as late as the week before orientation. How long ago were you given the updated #6 on the waitlist? I think there were a few more people pulled a couple weeks ago, but I don't know how many and can't give you an exact date. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.

Okay, thanks for the response :) I was originally #19 so if you had 15 pulled then my chances probably aren't too great. However, like you said, you never know. I guess I'll just wait it out and see what's happening closer to the start date. Orientation is around May14th right?

Orientation is May 12, 13, 14. I will keep my fingers crossed for you! Every year is different with how many people are pulled from the wait list, so you never know. I would definitely contact the school a few days before you leave to see if they're able to give you an update by that point.

Not sure if it helps, but I contacted VCU and I believe they were being nice about telling me they really couldn't tell me where I sat in the waitlist. Below is the email from Cindy.

"I've been inundated with all of our other applicants pools and haven't had the ability to go back and re-rank everyone. Sorry about that! Definitely keep posted to your emails in case a space opens.

Take care,

Cindy"
