It's insanely early to think about this, but here's a thread for anyone applying for the VCU DNAP cohort set to begin January 2021, the application window is open! Are you studying for your GRE yet? ?

I don't mind at all. I PM'd you.

still sending out positive vibes for everyone!
Every single time... especially if there’s a bunch of them LOL ?
Hi guys,
I interviewed with VCU last year and did not receive a favorable decision. I was not the strongest applicant: less than 1 year of ICU experience and less than desired GRE score. I also did not have my CCRN. I was still appreciative of the opportunity to interview.
I was working last year to improve my candidacy and was excited to interview this year again. It would hurt to be rejected again!
I also check my e-mail a couple of times per day waiting for the email...and also check VCU CRNA facebook page.
Originally from NOVA, I am staying busy by taking care of my family and two very energetic vizsla dogs.
I wish all of us good luck! Hope everyone's COVID-19 tests come back negative. Can't wait to meet all of you in person in January of 2021.
Hi everyone!! What a weird/humbling feeling being in this spot as a current student at VCU, reading your comments and remembering that I was JUST in your spot last year (except my interview was in-person). CONGRATS to those who have made this far! You guys are courageous, brave, and motivated to push yourselves to go an extra mile to achieve your biggest dream ever - being a crna. I remember thinking how miserable and tedious the process was, only to realize that the whole process only made me test my limits and get stronger as an individual. I wish you guys had the opportunity to sit and talk with the faculty at vcu, because they’re nothing but encouraging and helpful. But that’s okay, you will get to meet them so soon! Hang tight, the end is so rewarding. Love love love every moment of this journey, and can’t wait to meet you guys in the near future. I wish you guys the very best luck, and let me know if you have any questions! ❤️
Hey guys! I'm echoing what srna2022 said above! I'm a current student as well, and I was in your shoes last year... This is such an exciting (and nerve wracking) time and you should be SO proud of all you have accomplished! I love being in VCU's program and how the curriculum eases you into being a student again. The professors are amazing; they are genuinely supportive and caring, which contributes to a welcoming learning environment. Feel free to ask me any questions! Best of luck to all of you!
@tbell92 and @srna2022, thanks for popping by and hope the first year is going well for you both! I think I read that your cohort (across all campuses) was the largest for the program yet, is that right? Do you feel that the faculty are able to make the distance campus-based students feel as included as the Richmond cohort? I know that right now everyone is doing true distance learning anyway, but when the time comes to be in class in future terms it must be interesting to see how they incorporate everything for all of the groups. This is the only program I’ve applied to which has this model, so it’s been a question in the back of my mind as someone who can’t move to Richmond (wish I could).
@tbell92 @srna2022 thanks for stopping by! I was super pumped to actually interview in the midst of COVID especially since other programs were postponing their deadlines. On the other hand I was a little bummed we weren’t going to meet some of you and have the chance to ask y’all some questions... so I do have a few for you!
What is your favorite thing and least favorite thing about VCU so far?
What sites are y’all at? I checked the Abingdon box on my application because my family lives down in Asheville which would be the perfect distance from us if we were to land there.. not too far, not too close ? What are the pros/cons for being in Richmond versus being at Abingdon/Alexandria/Roanoke?
I’ve heard through the grapevine that VCU emphasizes more than other schools ultrasound guided regional/peripheral nerve blocks. Have you had any experience with this yet or have you heard from classes before you if that is the case?
Again, thank you so much for dropping by and being willing to answer some questions for us! Hope y’all are staying safe.
Hello everyone,
I hope everyone is remaining safe and healthy during these times. I wish everyone the best of luck. This waiting has been very hard. I have just been trying to stay busy and keep my mind occupied. But still, I can't help to periodically check my email or phone to see if I have a notification. I will admit I hope they let us all know at the same time. Reading past blogs, applicants were notified a few at a time. I feel that would only increase anxiety and dampen your spirits as the number of students accepted increase and the number of seats decrease. Right now, I can truly be positive, calm, and wait.

Totally.. I just keep reminding myself that if they are going to notify us before May 15 they will post it on the facebook wall, so I’ve just been checking that once or twice a day. One day at a time!! We’re almost there!
I am nervous because after today I am off until next Thursday so I am just going to be simmering with anxiety until then haha! Happy Nurses week everyone! I am hoping for a decision soon!! This waiting is tough! I am still wondering how many people they interviewed and how many they plan on accepting since last years cohort appears to be the largest yet!
