VCU ABSN Summer 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey guys!

I just started a thread for UVA's CNL Summer 2018, but I'm also applying to VCU's ABSN program for Summer 2018. If anyone out there is doing the same, or just applying to VCU, I'd love to hear from you! :)

I was toying with the idea of a UVA CNL program Vs VCU ABSN as well by the time I made up my mind, the UVA application deadline had just passed sadly! I really would have liked to speak with a professional or anyone in the know if it makes sense career-wise to just do an MSN instead of a BSN! I haven't heard of many people choosing to do a CNL over a BSN yet but maybe I am wrong. What do you think?

With UVA, you would still be eligible to sit for the NCLEX once you complete the CNL program. I looked into as well, but prereqs can't be more than 5 years old and mine were.

Has anyone had an issue getting a reference? One of my referees mentioned to me that they have to write an actual letter and upload it on nursingCAS. Is this true? If so, can anyone suggest a template for writing one because I have absolutely no idea how this is done. It is a work reference and my referee needs a template (sadly I think she is clueless on writing one herself). Should I simply write one and send it to her to edit?

Thanks

Once you submit your references email, NursingCAS sends them a link to complete the reference.

Has anyone else messed up like me and not sent their transcripts to nursingcas yet? I didn't read the directions carefully enough and didn't plan in advance does this pretty much guaranteed that my application won't be considered?

Thanks

Hi i'm new to this website so I apologize if I've posted in the wrong forum. I have a few questions about the vcu application that i would love to hear feedback on. First, is it necessary to include ACT scores? I could get access to them but as i don't remember my account information i would like to avoid this if possible. Also, has anyone else messed up like me and not sent their official transcripts to nursingcas yet? i was under the impression that it'd be electronic but the website said it takes several weeks to process. :nailbiting: Have I pretty much guaranteed that i wont get in now?

Thanks.

Hi, I would contact NursingCAS.

Just looked at the nursingcas website, they will continue to process all transcripts as they come in, even after the deadline has passed. Just make sure your application is submitted before the deadline.

I would definitely contact NursingCAS. But from my personal experience, I sent my transcript and one week later they were uploaded into the website...so I think they may overestimate their times

ACT/SAT/GRE scores are not needed for application. The lengthy processing time they speak of for transcript actually refers to the institution you are getting it from and not NursingCAS in my belief. For instance international transcripts might take a while to be evaluated which is why it's advised to start the process on time.

The point is, you still have time to send in your transcript before the 15th next week, it will still be processed by NursingCAS just be sure to get it in before the deadline. It took NursingCAS a week to add mine to the website even though I had to call them several times before they did because they claimed it couldn't be found which was total BS. Eventually one of their agents found it. Send in your transcript ASAP and call them if u have to to speed things up.

Good luck.

Hi All, and thank you to the original user for creating this post!

I applied to the VCU accelerated 2018 program in September, but just recently had my application, evaluations, and transcripts approved by NursingCAS. I am a VCU alumni with a BS in psychology, and have several years of professional experience in intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring. My cumulative GPA from VCU and community college is a 3.4, and I currently work as an EEG technician at a local community hospital. This is the only nursing program I have applied to as well like some of you here. I look forward to making new connections and sharing my experiences in the process. Best of luck to all of you applying to the program!

Just finalized and submitted my application! Good luck to everyone
