Hi, I am interested in hearing the experiences of people in the Vanderbilt prespecialty program. There doesn't seem to be anyway to PM you so I have to ask here. How intense is the first year? How are the clinicals and are they intense or relatively laid back? Also how is the job market? Is it relatively easy for people who did the program full time for 2 years and went straight through to get hired? I would think groups would be hesitant to hire someone with all the knowledge but no experience as a psych nurse. My dream job would be telepsych, do you know anyone who has accepted a job like that? If so could you put me in touch with them? Thanks for doing this.

Hello! The first year has been busy, but I have found it to be manageable. Clinicals are typically one 12 hour day a week. You go to clinicals within the first month of school, so you are jumping right into it, but by the time you go to the hospital you're ready for it. I do not know the answer to the rest of your questions, as I am still in school and not searching for a job yet. I have loved my time so far at Vanderbilt, and do not regret coming here one bit!
Hi! Is anyone looking into the Nurse Corps Scholarship? I looked at past threads and many students were saying that you are eligible starting from pre-specialty year, but I'm a bit confused since the eligibility requirements this year seem to be pretty strict on requiring one to have an RN license to apply.

I realized even though I submitted my app by the priority deadline I had only provided unofficial transcripts so my app wasn't considered complete. ?
