Vanderbilt Pre-Specialty MSN 2023

Updated:   Published

I'm applying to the Vanderbilt University Fall 2023 Pre-specialty MSN program and I just wanted to open up a topic since I hadn't seen one yet. I would appreciate and advice, tips, FAQ, experiences, etc.

Hopefully this Thursday or Friday! I'm loosing sleep over the nerves hahaha

I emailed them and admissions told me that it should be right before the holidays.

I was just gonna say I know another school sends out interview invites like days before Christmas. I expect the same from Vandy. Being on “break” for the school will probably allow the admissions team to focus more on making decisions

That makes total sense. I bet we hear right around the 23rd. It’s so close!!???

True! Hopefully good news for us all!

I'm wondering if we'll be notified around the same time as their undergrad early decision applicants, I think they usually find out around Dec 15...in any case, I thought we were going to have to wait until February! It's nice we'll get to know a little sooner

That would be next week! AH! Hopefully we do.

Oh yes that would be so hard! Do you happen to know how much deposit Vandy requires to accept a spot? I am not sure how much time they give you either. I only applied to Vandy this time but I’m sure most have applied to other schools too. Are there other programs similar to this one that allow non nursing degrees and are the same length? I have family in Nashville which makes it super appealing for me since the tuition is so expensive on its own.

$500! It goes toward tuition. For prior app cycles, they let us have until like March 28 I think for commitment responses. Other programs I know are DNP length. Although there are rumors Vandy is phasing out the MSN in a few years so it'll all be DNP except for the MN in nursing for non nurses.

Oh good $500 is reasonable, if I’m lucky enough to get in I’ll accept right away. That’s interesting about the DNP I’ve heard the trend is moving toward that. I ultimately want to get that but I hope I get in before they change?

I also assumed we would find out on December 15 because of the undergrad decisions! Whenever we found out, I hope it’s soon because I literally cannot sleep HAHA

Righttt!! I’m refreshing the page everyday!!

Same! I just want to know??‍♀️? Has anyone else applied for AGPCNP? I’m wishing now I would have applied for the dual cert that included WHNP as well, both are super high in demand where I live.

Hi Donna! I also applied to AGPCNP pre-specialty entry. I’m really interested in adult/gerontology primary care in the rural area where I live. Vanderbilt’s my first choice by far, and I’m super nervous now that I found out we should get decisions in the next couple of weeks.
