Hey everyone! I couldn't find this thread anywhere so figured that I would start one for all of us who applied to Vanderbilt's Pre-Specialty Entry program (for non-RNs) this fall. I applied for the PMHNP specialty. What about you?! :)
congrats klb...did you interview? Also, if dual applicants get accepted into one specialty and not the other, can they still attend the school for just that specialty?
I just talked to the associate director of admissions from the nursing school and she said you can get into one or the other or both. Getting denied from one program does not bar you from enrolling with the other if you are accepted by them. She said they're still interviewing, even. So sounds like KLB got really lucky! I also asked whether decisions would go out by phone, email, or regular mail and she said they would go out in the regular mail hopefully by the end of the month. BUMMER
Hi all,
Yes I did interview via phone and they told me I have a spot in CNM even if I don't get accepted for FNP. Also, I'm sure they are still reviewing applications. I think I had an interview in the first week and had applied before the December 1st deadline so I think they are just beginning to make decisions! Thanks for the support everyone and I hope you all will be hearing good news soon!
hi!,Congrats! I also just found out I was accepted to the CNM program today! I figured it couldn't hurt to reach out. Do you live in the Nashville area?
Wow congratulations!! You called and they told you over the phone? When was your interview? I'm so happy for you guys but getting nervous.. my interview was on 1/20 MLK day
Thanks! They actually called me and told me. My interview was last week. I have a hunch (from reading past stuff) that they contact the initially accepted candidates first and then let waitlisted people know in March- though apparently a LOT of waitlisted people eventually get in so don't get too nervous!!
Sorry, when I said "reach out" I meant to KLB as I don't live in Nashville and am hoping to get some tips on the move!
Does anyone know the number of admitted students to the CNM program and the Direct-Entry program total?
thanks and heaps and heaps of luck to you all!!!!

Congratulations to you and KLB! I have a couple questions for you guys. I interviewed for just the CNM direct entry last week. What time did you guys get the phone call today? And was it from an unknown number or TN? (I got an unknown phone call today...and while I doubt it was them I'd still be curious if their number came up as unknown or not). Also, the interviewers seemed to stress a lot during my interview that a lot of people get waitlisted.... Did they stress this a lot to you guys as well or was that just me? Thanks for your help!

I'm working on pre-reqs too, and I submitted my fall grades. I don't know if I would have thought to do it either except that other schools requested it, so I just sent my updated unofficial transcript to all of them. I uploaded it as an attachment to the application and notified admissions. I kinda doubt it would make a big difference in your decision at this point, but it can't hurt to send them, right?
