Vanderbilt Pre-Specialty Applicants 2014

Published

Hey everyone! I couldn't find this thread anywhere so figured that I would start one for all of us who applied to Vanderbilt's Pre-Specialty Entry program (for non-RNs) this fall. I applied for the PMHNP specialty. What about you?! :)

Hi, everyone! I am currently a PMHNP student at Vanderbilt (although I was already a RN, so I didn't do the Pre-Specialty program), so if you all have any questions just let me know. I do the distance option. There are several former Pre-Specialty students in my class and I've heard a little bit about their experiences in the program, so I might be able to shed some light on that portion of the program as well. Just shoot me a PM and I will try to help if I can!

I absolutely remember being terrified and DYING for that acceptance letter to come, so I feel for all of you!! It should be in the next few weeks, so just hang in there! Good luck to everyone!

How nervous for the phone interview (in 10.5 hrs!!) should I be? Above, it was suggested to reread personal statement and survey answers - that's solid info, right? I'm just so nervous. . . meh!

RNGen,

Hi! I was very nervous too it helps to do deep breathing. Also, remember you've worked hard to be where you are and nobody knows more about you than you do. They asked about 4-5 questions and it was very relaxed. Just answer honestly and be yourself and you'll do great! You've got this...imagine it is your mom, sister or friend on the other line.

Hello! I applied to the CNM/FNP pre-specialty program. I had an interview a week ago today and I thought it went really well. I am anxious to hear back -- and February 24th is my 24th birthday, so I am hoping for a good birthday present!

aw it's my 22nd birthday! good luck everyone!

That is excellent advice. It shouldn't be too intense. Make sure you know why you want to go to Vandy and why you chose this specialty, what you want to accomplish careerwise, have a couple of examples of how you've overcome an obstacle or faced a challenge, etc. They want to know you can handle a hectic schedule and that you have a passion for psych. The faculty are all pretty nice, no need to worry.

GOOD LUCK!

Happy February 1st everyone! The countdown begins :)

Woo hoo!!! Here's hoping that February 24th estimation is right on target!

Has anyone figured out the total tuition cost for all 6 semesters?

Approximately $104,000.
