Vanderbilt Nurse Residency Winter 2021

Nurses General Nursing

Hi guys!

I have not seen a thread for the Vanderbilt Nurse Residency program for Winter 2021 and thought I'd make one! I am currently in the process of applying. I am on my first part of my application. I would love to hear whose applying, what unit they are applying to and your experience so far!

I feel like I have been consumed by anxiety over this interview. Has anyone else here applied for PICU?

Same. I’ve read my interview lines over and over in between studying and I can’t read it anymore. I have acute peds though

Hey guys!

I just now found this thread, but I applied for the ED! I got an email shortly after application that that track was full, but they want to interview me for the Burn Unit. Any tips??

Hello all!

I submitted my application for Adult Cardiac Stepdown yesterday. I believed I had missed the deadline for all applications, but they left some open due to the need for more applicants! I am thrilled! I am in a 12 month ABSN program at University of Miami and I wanted to wait until my grades for my Summer transcript were in.

I am curious as to where everyone is at in terms of experience and GPA stats, certifications, etc. Is anyone still in their final semester of school?

Hi there, just to give an idea for where I am at, I will be interviewing for PICU and am also in my last semester of school. I work as a RN Extern in a neuro ICU as well as a research assistant for my university and a HIV test counselor. my GPA is 3.83. I suspect we are all around the same with regard to grades and experience, and I am sure you will do wonderful!

I'm in my final semester of school; I'll be graduating in November with a BSN. My current GPA is 3.82. I obviously have my BLS, but we got NRP when we did maternity/peds. I'm getting ACLS and PALS here shortly! I'm currently working as an ER Tech at my local hospital. Hopefully these interviews go well because I am so nervous!!

Up. It's 11:25 PM and I am up thinking about this interview. I talk to myself every time I go on a long car drive. reciting my interview answers. Although I know I shouldn't so I don't sound robotic. Good luck to those who have interviews this week. I have the nerves. ?

Wishing you the very best on your interview! The fact that you’re prepared is going to help so much! You are competent. You are capable. You got this. Best wishes!!

IDK what is worse, knowing I have an interview tomorrow or knowing I will have to wait until the end of September for follow-up. It is time! Best of luck everyone!

How did it go?!

The interview with the PICU team went well! Definitely make sure you have written down your nursing experiences and you will all do very well, as most questions were behavioral as they stated they would be. The team was very kind and do an excellent job of not making you feel uncomfortable. I wish you all the best, and here is to meeting everyone in person in a few months!

P.S waiting until the end of September for follow-up is going to be very hard, anyone else interviewing with PICU or PCVICU to stress with me?

I am SO glad to hear that you not only survived but that it went well! I wish I could just do mine and get on with the entire process!! So did they tell you It would be the end of September before you would hear back? I thought the email said they were offering as we went along... may have just read it wrong!

Thank you for your well wishes! And it is only for PICU that we are waiting until the end of September, as far as I am aware. Lucky me for having to wait so long!

I have mines next Monday and according to the email I received today, I won’t know until October 1st....and I was really looking forward to hearing that same week as I originally expected. I’m interviewing for the PMAC so that’s the reason why I guess. Little bummed by that ? how was the behavioral questions? And how many people are interviewing you?
