Vanderbilt Nurse Residency Winter 2021

Published

Hi guys!

I have not seen a thread for the Vanderbilt Nurse Residency program for Winter 2021 and thought I'd make one! I am currently in the process of applying. I am on my first part of my application. I would love to hear whose applying, what unit they are applying to and your experience so far!

Yay! I've been waiting for someone to start this thread! I am working on my packet/second portion of the application. Actually I am done but just waiting on my last reference to submit her portion!

I’ve been waiting on this thread ?? I just finished my application. I chosen pediatrics (CVICU, acute care) or mental health. Waiting on my references now. What about you? Do you all live in Tennessee?

Finally got to submit my packet Monday night. My name is Keneisha. I was born and raised in TN and graduating in December! My number 1 is adult acute surgical, then adult perioperative, behavioral health, and then some random peds track. I live near Nashville. Working at Vanderbilt has always been my dream! I've researched the residency program a lot so hopefully things will go well! How is everyone else?

Hey keneisha! I’m coming from out of state. I think I’ve been to Nashville once but visited gatlinburg many times. St.Judes is why I started looking at Tennessee but shortly became in love with vanderbilt. I already knew of it and was already looking at the university’s nursing programs. I finished my application Tuesday evening! I’m excited myself. My professor referenced a student there many years ago and they currently still work there. My chosen tracks are above. How is the living there are in Nashville? If I get an interview, I’m going to stay the weekend to get a feel for Nashville and take a mini vacation from online classes

I'm sure there are plenty of places to stay! Apartments are pretty expensive in Nashville but the nearby areas are a bit cheaper. As far as hotels for the weekend or airbnbs or whatever else, there should be lots of options for you as well. Nashville is a busy and action-packed place, a bit too much for my small town-raised self!

What’s a safe city that’s outside of Nashville you would say? Even I stay away from the hussle and bussle of my own state. Atlanta ?

Franklin would probably be your best bet! I'd definitely stay away from Antioch. Smyrna and Murfreesboro would be good choices as well but a bit further away. I love reading these threads and hate when people move their convos to direct messages but if you wanna talk about more things not specific to the residency or Nashville then feel free to message me privately!

Specializes in Student.

Hey y'all. Kind of late submitting the first part of my application as my computer was broken for most of the Summer. Im just awaiting the packet and already have my reference peoples on standby so that I can have it submitted by the deadline. Glad someone finally started a thread for Winter 2021, as I'm sure we've all ready every other VUMC Nurse Residency thread on here to get some inside pointers LOL. Best of luck to everyone!

Hello everyone! Discovered this residency late in the game but am wrapping up my application now, just waiting on one reference! I currently live in Detroit and work at Detroit Receiving as a RN Extern and my chosen tracks were 1.) PICU 2.) Pediatric hem/onc 3.) Adult SICU. Look forward to speakin with you all more as time goes on!

Application submitted! How is everyone else doing? I believe interviews are mostly done through mid-September.

Patiently waiting to hear back. Late august is too far away LOL I would like to know now to ease my anxiety.

also, just wanted to let you know that the application says peds oncology is not accepting applications this cycle. Don’t want your application to get overlooked.
