Vanderbilt Nurse Residency Winter 2021

Nurses General Nursing

Hi guys!

I have not seen a thread for the Vanderbilt Nurse Residency program for Winter 2021 and thought I'd make one! I am currently in the process of applying. I am on my first part of my application. I would love to hear whose applying, what unit they are applying to and your experience so far!

Yeah I have the same thoughts too. Vanderbilt highly effects my decision too because I would have to move to attend VUMC far away from home. I’ve never left my family before and I really want the opportunity instead of staying in the town I am in. The other hospitals I applied to I am almost guaranteed an offer so I have been holding off on the interview to avoid stretching out the acceptance. I applied quickly to VUMC because they were the first application to open. Most of us applied in July, so I think it’s kind of crazy that we must wait another week. First it was week of, then by next week, then October 1st now Oct 7. At this point I am praying we all waited for an acceptance. ❤️

Same with me! I'm from New England so this will be a big move. I am in the interview process at other facilities so we will see what happens I guess. Hoping the best for everyone!

It makes me wonder if they had less applicants this cycle? And they’re trying to fit people somewhere? Or maybe the interviews didn’t go as well this go around and they’re having to move people around even after interviews? Just a thought I had. It’s nerve wracking. I haven’t applied anywhere else yet because this decision highly effects whether I move home or not so I’m basically just waiting now. I can’t imagine what it’s like for you guys that are having to sit on other offers already

Well this thread was wayyy less active than all of the previous Vanderbilt threads...I always felt as if there weren’t that many applicants this cycle. I agree it’s nerve wracking. Still hoping we all get a positive outcome with this.

Yeah I noticed that but then again, it seems the relevancy of allnurses is decreasing.

I thought we were such a small group but apparently not. I interviewed at Centennial in Nashville yesterday and there were several people there that had interviewed with too. I was like OMG nooooooo more “competition” (I mean that very loosely because we can ALL be great nurses and work together)!

Centennial isn’t accepting Peds applications this round. I called and asked because I applied. They ended up offering me an adult ICU interview but I turned it down because I only wanted to go there for peds. I’ve been looking elsewhere for peds anyways since offered me an adult interview. I did really love the manager that interviewed me though and the floor sounded awesome. I just don’t know if I want to relocate unless it’s for a pediatric position. I’m lost clearly ?

LOL I’m lost too. If that’s  the case, I’ll just skip the interview. I’m not moving if it is not Peds.

Guys, I finally got to interview today and I think it went well (unless I don't know how to read people)! Literally 1/7 of the questions I had prepared for was asked so at that point it was fight or flight haha. Now I have joined the much dreaded Anticipation & Anxiety Association of this here forum... October 1st or 7th please HURRY!

I have gotten to the point now where it has been so long since I have interviewed I am now just preparing for my other interviews. I am very happy that this anxiety seems to be going away as the weeks go by, and I hope it does not come back as we get closer

I’m just hoping that I can go to sleep and wake up and it’s Friday. Hope you guys are still doing well and crushing your final semester (if you’re still going strong like me).
