Hi guys!
I have not seen a thread for the Vanderbilt Nurse Residency program for Winter 2021 and thought I'd make one! I am currently in the process of applying. I am on my first part of my application. I would love to hear whose applying, what unit they are applying to and your experience so far!
Now that most of us are done with interviews, I just thought I would share some other wonderful hospitals around the country that are accepting applications for nurse residents! Keep in mind that I have only been looking for pediatric positions in level one trauma centers, but here is what I got
- Children's Healthcare of Atlanta
- University of Michigan
- Johns Hopkins
- Seattle Children's applications opening in November
- Chicago Children's opening around December

Applied to CHOA. They’re currently doing their internal hire interviews first.
Never even considered Chicago, kind of scared of the area. But Seattle is definitely on my list as well.
Just now, meb_7619 said:Ouf! I just got the email as well. Which hospitals are you applying to? Finding out right after the interview sounds amazing!!
HCA healthcare. Well at least the ones here in Georgia. My friend found out 4 hours after her interview with offer, shift and unit. Just like that. I don't understand why Vanderbilt is making us suffer LOL. That vague email saying they were impressed I was expecting a faster response. This is too much anxiety.
I'm wondering if they sent out rejections yet? No point in waiting for that, at least. I am thinking they may have offers for different units after the meeting.
It makes me wonder if they had less applicants this cycle? And they’re trying to fit people somewhere? Or maybe the interviews didn’t go as well this go around and they’re having to move people around even after interviews? Just a thought I had. It’s nerve wracking. I haven’t applied anywhere else yet because this decision highly effects whether I move home or not so I’m basically just waiting now. I can’t imagine what it’s like for you guys that are having to sit on other offers already

Yeah I have the same thoughts too. Vanderbilt highly effects my decision too because I would have to move to attend VUMC far away from home. I’ve never left my family before and I really want the opportunity instead of staying in the town I am in. The other hospitals I applied to I am almost guaranteed an offer so I have been holding off on the interview to avoid stretching out the acceptance. I applied quickly to VUMC because they were the first application to open. Most of us applied in July, so I think it’s kind of crazy that we must wait another week. First it was week of, then by next week, then October 1st now Oct 7. At this point I am praying we all waited for an acceptance. ❤️

Yeah! Hopefully we'll be working together in March! Maybe even passing patient's off to each other. You interviewed for PICU, yeah? I had mine with the Peds PACU
