Vanderbilt Nurse Residency Winter 2018

Published

Hello!

I am graduating in December and I have the summer off so I've begun looking at potential places that I'd like to work.

I'm thinking I'd like to do a nurse residency because I want to work in a pediatric Critical Care setting (PICU or Peds ER) and I feel like having that whole year with someone helping me and that I can ask questions without feeling like an annoying dummy.

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone here was looking at Vanderbilt's Nurse Residency for February 2018? I'm not from Nashville, but I'm also not too far away as I'm from North Alabama. I'd appreciate any tips about the residency or about Nashville!

Thanks

Also was informed that pediatric interviews were full. I was offered 4 other tracks and chose adult surgical.

just got done with my interview today guys (adult acute surgery track) good luck to everyone!

Awesome! How did your interview go?

I hope your interview went well!!!

Did they say how long it would be until offers are made?

What unit are you interested in? Did you go in person or via Skype?

I think it went well! Some of the questions were tough but all I did was think of clinical examples and I was fine. The people that I interviewed with were extremely nice. I did the Skype interview, I think they said sometime around the end of September. I really like ortho!

My interview is on Thursday. Anyone have any good tips for it? I'd definitely appreciate it!

Mine is scheduled for September 26th as well.

Did anyone notice that the deadline was extended for a couple tracks? Any idea as to why this is? Is it because not enough applicants or nursing shortage or is the program not what it used to be? anyone know or have an idea for this?

I think maybe the extended deadline it's due to just the across the board need for med/surge nurses?

Has anyone begun to hear about offers yet?

Does anyone that has interviewed know what the base pay is?

other posts have listed it as $21.85/hr

The interview wasn't bad at all! Just have clinical experiences ready for examples but other than that my interviewers were very nice and made me feel good about my answers! The salary I received was $21/85 an hour which is $43,700/year. In Nashville, that is a tight budget..
