Vanderbilt Nurse Residency Winter 2018

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Hello!

I am graduating in December and I have the summer off so I've begun looking at potential places that I'd like to work.

I'm thinking I'd like to do a nurse residency because I want to work in a pediatric Critical Care setting (PICU or Peds ER) and I feel like having that whole year with someone helping me and that I can ask questions without feeling like an annoying dummy.

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone here was looking at Vanderbilt's Nurse Residency for February 2018? I'm not from Nashville, but I'm also not too far away as I'm from North Alabama. I'd appreciate any tips about the residency or about Nashville!

Thanks

Thanks for the info! Were you offered a shift differential?

per the residency website, residents are eligible for the shift differential. I am not sure what it is though...

Rate will be $21.85 with shift differentials.

And yes have received an offer. What about you ALM315?- anything yet?

Anyone else hear anything yet?

Are there just not enough applicants? Seems like pervious forums have been busier

I got an offer on Friday and know another girl who did. I just happened to come across this forum, so maybe others aren't aware if it?

What track are you?

Surgical Track What about you ALM315?

Do you any of you know how long orientation will be for the units?

Surgical as well! I believe the initial orientation is 10-12 weeks and that includes the unit orientation and we'll find out which unit we're assigned to closer to starting.

Where are you from?

Idaho and what about you? Are you already licensed? Did you offer letter mention anything about shift differentials? I thought mine did but after taking a second look nothing about that...

I'll be moving from Massachusetts. I graduate I. December and will take the NCLEX in January

There's nothing in the offer, but under the FAQ on the wes site, it does say that we are eligible for shift differerentials.

I interviewed for the Women's Health track today. Just hoping for an offer now. Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear!

I accepted my offer for adult surgical today! I take NCLEX on Thursday, so hopefully I'll be able to do the Nov. start date. Is anyone else starting then?

Hi I'd be starting in Nov. too.

where are you from and were you emailed any info after you sent your acceptance? Just wondering because I'm worried about orientation length -I emailed the recruiter and she said that it would be from 6-12 weeks-I was expecting a bit longer of a time -what does everyone else think?

I'm from Alabama. I sent my acceptance email in after business hours were done for the day so I didn't hear anything today. I'm hoping that I'll get more information tomorrow or the next day.

I feel like 6-12 weeks is a normal amount of time for orientation with a preceptor. I'm sure that person will still be available to help us after our "orientation period" is over. Also, there will be lots of other nurses that should be willing to continue answering our questions if we don't know how or understand how to do something.
