Vanderbilt Nurse Residency Winter 2018

Published

Hello!

I am graduating in December and I have the summer off so I've begun looking at potential places that I'd like to work.

I'm thinking I'd like to do a nurse residency because I want to work in a pediatric Critical Care setting (PICU or Peds ER) and I feel like having that whole year with someone helping me and that I can ask questions without feeling like an annoying dummy.

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone here was looking at Vanderbilt's Nurse Residency for February 2018? I'm not from Nashville, but I'm also not too far away as I'm from North Alabama. I'd appreciate any tips about the residency or about Nashville!

Thanks

I am applying for Duke and the Florida Hospital system as well! I saw that the Duke application opens sometime in october, do you know when the Florida ones open up? That's awesome that you got into their PNA program. I am currently doing a paid internship as well, the SNAP Program at Novant Health in Charlotte, NC. I'm hoping that looks well on my application! I am going to TN at the end of this month to check out the area and the hospital, I've heard both are beautiful!

That is awesome! I have been told for the HCA STARN programs in Florida (which is what I'm going for) the application is always open, but for December grads November is the best time to apply! And that's awesome you're applying to the same places...how funny! I'm excited to see what I get into and where I end up! It's all up in the air big time!

I'm graduating in December and applied for the Winter 2018 residency with Vanderbilt for the Women's Health track. Now I'm just waiting for my references to do their part. It's so hard to be patient and wait for them to reply so I can submit my application! I also am applying for residencies at Centennial and Saint Thomas. Good luck to everyone!

Hello!

I am also applying to the nurse residency program and graduate in December! I am applying for the NICU! I had a quick question regarding the letter of intent? Does anyone know if we address this to Tracey Fargo or is it "To whom it may concern" Just want to be sure I get that headed in the right direction! Thanks for your help and good luck everyone!

nurseIA I addressed my letter of intent to the residency board. I found somewhere that she's not the deciding person and there's a board to decide who gets through to the interviews.

This is what I am applying for as well! Best of luck to you! My references are taking their sweet time, and I'm growing quite impatient! :o

November is such a late time to apply especially when there are a lot of hospital systems that open their applications so early on, like Vanderbilt's! What track are you applying for?

That's what I was thinking! I am probably going to apply in October or so at the latest, just so my name is in there! I am going for the Women's Health track for that one as well (hoping for L&D but I will take anything related to women's health). How about you?

For vanderbilt I am doing the Adult Acute Surgery track. I love post-op and orthopedics. I plan on doing that as well for the other places I'm applying. At least a medical-surgical track. I want to work on that type of floor so I can be exposed to a lot as I want to go back to get my masters eventually.

For the letter of intent did you use the same format as you would in a word doc? For that part I wish I could just upload a document

I am planning on becoming a midwife someday, which is why I'm dying to get L&D somewhere!

Embuck1, I just typed it out on a word doc then copy/pasted it! The format stayed about the same when I did that!

I just put in my application. Graduating in december also. Did y'all get a follow up packet for the letter of intent and stuff? How long did that take?

I got mine the next day, although I have heard it can take up to two days to get it!
