Vanderbilt Nurse Residency Winter 2018

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Hello!

I am graduating in December and I have the summer off so I've begun looking at potential places that I'd like to work.

I'm thinking I'd like to do a nurse residency because I want to work in a pediatric Critical Care setting (PICU or Peds ER) and I feel like having that whole year with someone helping me and that I can ask questions without feeling like an annoying dummy.

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone here was looking at Vanderbilt's Nurse Residency for February 2018? I'm not from Nashville, but I'm also not too far away as I'm from North Alabama. I'd appreciate any tips about the residency or about Nashville!

Thanks

I would think we would hear something either way. It will be two weeks tomorrow that I interviewed for L&D and I haven't heard anything yet.

I think we will hear either way up until the beginning of October.

Medicine!

Adult Acute Medicine? Peds Medicine? Medical ICU?

Adult acute. Where did you interview?

It's been two weeks since I interviewed and I haven't heard anything yet, so I emailed to ask when I should expect to hear something and was told they'll be following up through the 1st few weeks of October. So, the waiting continues!

Reviewing meds/materials, buying supplies, etc? Stuff like that......or if anyone has found any neat/interesting articles about starting the first nursing job

I need to study up on my heart meds. lol I never saw myself seriously going into cardiac stuff. I also need to study the types of stuff that they deal with since I've only ever had fundamentals on a cardiology floor (for 3 weeks no less). I AM WAY TOO NERVOUS! I'm calm until the situation passes. I need graduation to come and go and NCLEX to come and go and the first day(s?) to come so I can be like "I survived already, it's over. It's not horrible." Anyone with me? lol

Congrats to everyone that is receiving offers! I am still waiting to hear back. Did anyone apply to TriStar as well as Vanderbilt?

I interviewed at TriStar Centennial for their residency a couple of weeks ago, but I was told I didn't get a spot. I'm interviewing at TriStar Summit for their residency next month.

How did the interview go? I will be interviewing at Centennial next month. The email said to wear my clinical uniform. Just clarifying that they mean scrubs? Good luck on your next interview!

Yes, you wear your student scrubs. It went well, everyone was very nice. Good luck!

Out of curiosity, why did you all apply? Was it the name? Did you know people that went through the NRP? amything specific about this program that made you guys go for it?

Has anyone been offered peds positions??
