Vanderbilt Nurse Residency Winter 2018

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Hello!

I am graduating in December and I have the summer off so I've begun looking at potential places that I'd like to work.

I'm thinking I'd like to do a nurse residency because I want to work in a pediatric Critical Care setting (PICU or Peds ER) and I feel like having that whole year with someone helping me and that I can ask questions without feeling like an annoying dummy.

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone here was looking at Vanderbilt's Nurse Residency for February 2018? I'm not from Nashville, but I'm also not too far away as I'm from North Alabama. I'd appreciate any tips about the residency or about Nashville!

Thanks

Hello! I just got accepted to Cardiac Stepdown! Anyone else accepted to this unit/program? I am coming from across the country!

I was accepted into the unit! I am from New England.

Congratulations! I interviewed for that unit too and was made an offer.

When did you get your offer?

Crazydoglady17 I interviewed for Cardiac Stepdown on the 13th of September (I think) and was offered a spot today. There's still hope for you!

Anyone else interview for PICU? Have you heard back??

mamccullough1 it was today.

Those of y'all who have accepted an offer, are y'all doing anything to prepare for the job?

I interviewed for the Behavioral Health track on Tuesday and was offered a position by phone yesterday! Still waiting for my offer letter but I'm pretty pumped!!

What were you thinking absn as far as preparing? if anything maybe reviewing meds.

For shift differential, it's $2/hr for weekends and $4 an hour for nights. So working overnight on Saturday is $6/hour above base. Overtime is paid on holidays if worked and overtime for more than 40 hours a week. ED (and perhaps ICU) get a $1/hour excess of base all the time.

Reviewing meds/materials, buying supplies, etc? Stuff like that......or if anyone has found any neat/interesting articles about starting the first nursing job

If we don't get the job, will we receive any sort of communication do you think?
