Vanderbilt Nurse Residency Winter 2016

Today's the day - applications are open! I've been looking forward to applying for this program since before I was in nursing school - I can't believe it's finally time to apply, and almost time to graduate! Join me as we go through the nail-biting process of trying to get hired by VUMC!

I am currently a BSN student and will be graduating next summer. I'm interested in Vanderbilt's program. Can anyone offer advice about the application process? Also, can those we were chosen for jobs and interviews, can you list your "stats?" (Gpa, volunteer experience, work experience, etc). It would be greatly appreciated.

Yay! The process is the most helpful and smoothest of all that I applied to. The nurse recruiter is a gem and was always open for any questions. I've read other threads where people post paragraphs of their accomplishments in response to this question and to me it's not appropriate on this post. ICU is going to be the bomb.com! Random question, do you know the color of the critical care nurse scrubs? I am having trouble locating info about our future uniforms!

I worked in Chicago last summer- very cool! Congrats on your position- I accepted an offer in surgical ICU and I am still high in the heavens trying to thank our Lord for the opportunity. I am from Detroit, but I go to a university in northern Michigan. Living in Nashville is going to be awesome!

Indeed, I am still in shock! Ms. Fargo said a Facebook group will be available to aid in apartment hunting. How are you going to manage taking the NCLEX? Is MI a compound state with TN?

I know! I am beyond excited and grateful for the opportunity. I wondered the same thing about scrubs, but I don't know. When I was interviewed, the people in scrubs had patterned scrubs and green? I don't know. I'm sure there will be more info given soon.

No, but that's why this opportunity is even more special! I'll simply take the NCLEX for TN and join the compact. If you haven't done so already (since IL is not one as well), call the State Board in Nashville and request an exam packet. There are quite a few things we have to accomplish! I posted my email a few posts ago; feel free to ask any questions!

I was wait listed for my original track choice and offered a separate unit position in progressive care. I decided to decline and remain on the waitlist for my original track.

Well I got put on the waitlist for the TICU and they subsequently offered me a position in the Acute Surgery track... Not exactly what I wanted but I think I am going to accept it anyways. Someone I know that works there said it is quite easy to transfer once in the Vanderbilt system so maybe thats what I will do. Not to mention my girlfriend whom I am moving in with did not get the position she interviewed for. So it would be quite hard to pay for all our expenses by myself if I accept the job. She applied for a job at Centennial in Nashville though so hopefully that will come through. Gosh, so much to think about.
