Today's the day - applications are open! I've been looking forward to applying for this program since before I was in nursing school - I can't believe it's finally time to apply, and almost time to graduate! Join me as we go through the nail-biting process of trying to get hired by VUMC!
I know! I am beyond excited and grateful for the opportunity. I wondered the same thing about scrubs, but I don't know. When I was interviewed, the people in scrubs had patterned scrubs and green? I don't know. I'm sure there will be more info given soon.
Ha, I only ask because a local hospital is having a very large scrub sale at the end of the month. Tracey said, "regarding scrubs... any variety is fine, just not black (trauma wears black)."
I interviewed for women's health, but was waitlisted and offered a spot in adult acute med instead. I am really bummed that I didn't get a spot in women's health, that is my whole heart and the reason I went to nursing school. BUT I accepted the offer for acute med--it seemed too risky not to! I know it is still an amazing opportunity, just to get my foot in the door at Vanderbilt, so I am trying to focus on that. This is going to be such an adventure and I am so excited! What a blessing, and I cannot wait for February.
I still haven't gotten any emails about background checks and tax forms or whatever. Anyone else is this boat? It's only been a week, but I'm so nervous I'm going to get jinxed on this or something!
Oh, @makebetterhappen: I'm pretty sure we rode the elevator together before our interviews, haha. Congratulations on getting accepted in your track!! I hope the other girl we were waiting with was accepted as well!
I accepted my offer on November 9, and I just got my email for a background check today. Don't sweat yet

ahh! I totally agree with your statement, "This is going to be such an adventure and I am so excited! What a blessing, and I cannot wait for February." Congrats on acceptance into the residency and your decision. Thank you again for your calm demeanor and kind wishes- crossing my phalanges for our Psych nurse friend. Please email me if you have any questions about all the paperwork or want to connect: "Midwest is the best!"
Are those of you are currently living in a compact state taking the NCLEX for your current state or for TN? I want to start the paperwork process and Im just not really sure if it matters?
Hey! I received this in an email that might help you and anyone else also reading:
"In regards to taking the NCLEX, we allow twice for not passing.
See the link regarding NCLEX and compact/ non-compact license. https://www.ncsbn.org/nurse-licensure-compact.htm
