The application for the Vanderbilt nurse residency for February 2015 will open in August. Who all is applying? Does anyone have advice for those of us who will be applying?

Hello everyone! Im Thrilled I found you all because i'm in the same boat! I currently live in Southern California and had my interview via SKYPE on Oct 8th at 10 central (8am my time) for the CVICU. Craig I think me and you were swapping interview times/dates thru Tracey ahaha, thanks for being accommodating. I believe my interview went well, and think about relocating to Nashville often; in fact I just went down to San Diego to have dinner with my Aunt and Grandma and its all we talked about for hours. The waiting begins. I'm totally open for hooking up with someone in this cohort and getting a place to live in close to work. I've done something like this once before and stayed in a hotel for a month which wasn't cost effective and getting mail was a hassle. Anyway more to talk another time. Im a 29 year old from southern California graduated BSN in may this year. 6 years exp as an LVN (I think yall call em LPN's). Ready for an adventure!

What track are you interviewing for? Everyone was super nice, good luck!
Acute track that includes everything. I initially wanted CVICU. But this one opened up so I said sure

What are some examples of the behavior questions do they ask?
Do they ask tell me about yourself? Why Vanderbilt? Strong and Weaknesses? .....?
It's not really fair to everyone else to give examples but a lot is based from your clinical experiences and examples from those and some generic interviews questions of course.

Agreed. I don't think anyone is going to divulge the interview questions. Just think back on your clinical experiences
That is very true. Thinking back on clinical experiences does help a lot.
@TenCman I believe tell me about yourself can be expected on every interviews.
Just a question to the ones who did their interview via Skype.. did you do it at your house/apt or did u opt for a different location?
did you have to move your camera at any point?

Ah, I fell in love with Nashville. Those Smoky Mountains were something else! Steep as heck! Watch out east coasters who are driving to Nashville. I took a different road on the way home and it turned out to be worse. Far worse. HA! I'm glad this interview wasn't in the dead of winter or else it might have been the end of me. If anyone is getting a hotel, ask if they have a Vandy rate. I saved $50 a might over the AAA rate by saying I'm in town to interview with Vandy.
Now we wait until December 1st. I hope it doesn't take that long, because I have several interviews between now and then, and I would hate to say yes to them and then be offered Vandy....
Me too. Not the CVICU part, that's the last job on earth I'd want, lol! I mean the acute care part. The good news is I was told there's usually a "good amount" of those jobs open. Hopefully we both get in!
That's good to hear! Keeping fingers crossed for everyone.
