Vanderbilt Nurse Residency Program Summer 2017

Published

I know I am WAY ahead on this, but I just wanted to see who all was applying for VUMC nurse residency program in the summer 2017? The application opens up on December 9th and I want to apply for the Adult Critical Care Track! If anyone has any tips on the application, please feel free to comment! :) I know it's a long time coming, but I just want to see who out there will be applying!

The interview wasn't bad at all! Just have clinical experiences ready for examples but other than that my interviewers were very nice and made me feel good about my answers! The salary I received was $21/85 an hour which is $43,700/year. In Nashville, that is a tight budget..

What track did you interview for?

Specializes in CRNA.

Wow yeah that is goingto be hard to work with but remember we can do shift differentials! I go tomorrow, so we will see how it goes!

I interviewed for the Adult Acute Surgery Track.

Areas outside of the city aren't as expensive!

Hey y'all!

Glad I found this thread & sorry I am so late to the party I also interview tomorrow (for the NICU)... so nervous! Do any of y'all who have already interviewed have any other advice? Where ALL of the questions situational? About how many? Where there any that really stumped you or were they pretty broad?

Any advice is much appreciated!

I originally applied for Trauma ICU, but wasn't offered an interview. I was given other unit options to interview in and I chose Adult Periop... Instead of an email to schedule an interview, I got an email with an attached additional application packet. Has anyone else received this? Is Perioperative Services in a different internship program??

I have a friend that is very interested in that program. Pretty sure it is a separate residency program all together.

shanneliz123... I'll be there tomorrow too! What time is your interview? Which track?

Awesome! I will be there at 3 pm for Adult Cardiac

I was offered an interview for Adult Acute Medicine (I originally applied for MICU, which they said was not available). I interview in two-ish weeks. Curious to see how quickly they get back with offers. Good luck to everyone!

Hey y'all! I started in the nurse residency at Vanderbilt last year, and would be happy to try and help answer any questions! It's a crazy whirlwind process, but so worth it in the end!

Hey! I have been offered a position in the program starting this summer but being from out of state I'm very nervous about being able to support myself. Could you give me some insight into the cost of living and where to try and live in Nashville? I would like to stay in the city but I'm thinking it may not be possible. Thanks!
