Vanderbilt Nurse Residency Program Summer 2017

Published

I know I am WAY ahead on this, but I just wanted to see who all was applying for VUMC nurse residency program in the summer 2017? The application opens up on December 9th and I want to apply for the Adult Critical Care Track! If anyone has any tips on the application, please feel free to comment! :) I know it's a long time coming, but I just want to see who out there will be applying!

Specializes in CRNA.
So who, out of the original critical care tracks, has decided to try the TriStar Residency? Anyone conducted their interview yet?

I have actually interviewed for 2 different TriStar facilities!

Same here, well actually 3. Have you conducted interviews yet at those facilities?

I interviewed for both Skyline and Centennial!

Hey, I do too! How was that? I have heard they're not as brutal as Vanderbilt. But then again Vanderbilt is Vanderbilt lol!

Actually my Vanderbilt interview was easier than TriStar's interview! They ask some tough questions for sure, but Skyline was by far my best so far. They were SO nice and I just seemed to fit in best there. Only thing that sucks is they don't start notifying until April 19th! That is so far away!

Yeah, the late notification does suck! Because you have to decline others in order to wait it out. What area did you apply for? I'm hoping they go easy on me when I go!

My best bet was critical care! Specifically Skyline's Trauma ICU because my senior internship was 216 hours in a level 1 Trauma ICU so that is where my experience is at the most!

Gotcha! Well hopefully it will work out for you. I'm excited to go for my interview! I wonder how many they're taking on each unit though?? Or how many applicants even applied?

Thanks, I hope so for you as well! Which area are you interested in? And if you research on the website, it said they only took about 100 nurse residents for 14 different hospitals. So not many! :( which makes me nervous. And all applicants who meet the eligibility requirements receive an interview is what I was told!

Im not exactly sure yet, I chose both Emergency and Critical care. So, I am open for options right now lol! And that is scary that they take every applicant! Did they seem pretty open for people during the interview?

To be honest, it was hard to tell! I think Centennial is taking more than Skyline since it is a much bigger hospital. But like i said, this wait is just going to kill me! Lol

Yeah, that makes sense! The wait will be tough, especially with an acceptance from Vandy! Centennial is located right downtown too. A lot of tough decisions ahead! Lol
