Vanderbilt MSN 2020

Updated:   Published

I just attended Vanderbilt's fall open house for the 2020 year and I'm really excited to be applying! I'm hoping to connect with other Vandey applicants so we can offer support and info along this process. I am applying to the post BSN dual CNM/ FNP program.

I hate this wait!! anyone hoping they'll let us know earlier than the 23rd?

Hello everyone!

I’m really excited to have found this thread. Currently nervously waiting for a decision for the PMHNP program. I don’t think I’ve ever been so attentive to my phone and email before now. ?

I keep checking the portal even though I know there's no way it's posted yet ? has anyone talked to admissions lately and gotten an update? hoping they may come out even earlier this year because there aren't any interviews!

That's a good find. Looks like they're at least aiming for on/before the 15th. Maybe Feb 14th? Although I'm sure it may be delayed.

It's eating me alive ? We're all feeling the stress. I applied last year and didn't get in, but we got our decisions on February 19th, I hope that helps!

Did you do anything to improve your application that might help if we don’t get in?

So last year I applied not having any of my prerequisites done, thinking that I would have a year to get all the classes done before matriculation, so it makes sense why I was rejected. I went to both open houses (2018 & 2019) and they kept driving home to show you know the role of your desired speciality (FNP for me). I took all of my prerequisites prior to submitting my application this cycle and got all A's and B's, so I'm hoping it will show the admissions team how much I want this, and that I am a hard worker. They use a holistic approach when reviewing applications so I spent about a year on my essay (the questions were the exact same this year as they were last year, so they might not change for 2021). I have a low undergraduate GPA (3.2), so I really had to prove to them through my essays that I am dedicated and passionate, and I've also been volunteering at the Vanderbilt Children's Hospital where i've met some people who are going through the program. I'm keeping my fingers crossed because Vandy is my top choice and I've been manifesting the opportunity to go there for two years now, so now I'm playing the waiting game like the rest of us. Fingers crossed to all of us

Dumb question,

How do they notify us we got in? Email? Snail mail? Do they let us know if we don't get in?

You’ll get an email if you are in/waitlisted/ or didn’t get in.
