Vanderbilt MSN 2019

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Hi! I'm starting a thread for Fall 2019. Anyone else applying/re-applying too? Please comment!

I had my phone interview yesterday and I asked when they expected to release decisions and they stated "You should hear within the next week or two."

Keep in mind this was for the ENP/FNP specialty and I submitted my application about 2 weeks after the deadline.

The emotional rollercoaster is REAL my friends, so real.

One moment I'm calm and thinking "it will happen when it happens" then I panic and wonder "am I just waiting and waiting just to be disappointed??"

I get why they can't just email us though. Think of the hundreds of people they'd have to coordinate, the 100ish people that get in AND the people that don't get in AND the people that get waitlisted. Not to mention that if you are a dual specialty you get two separate letters for each program...IE you could get ENP but not FNP, vice versa or both. Coordinating that would be a nightmare.

I am going to burn a hole in my yoga mat at this rate...hang in there friends.

Waaaaait a minute. How could you get ENP and not FNP? To be a ENP you MUST have the FNP as well. It wouldn’t make sense that they could offer you one without the other. They might as well just reject you all together lol ?

Couldn’t agree more with this statement. Not sure how that would happen. Need that FNP a foundation of KSA’s to build on ENP.

then again I just worked with a PA who spent 150 hours in our medical ICU sand when I asked where he wanted to work he said ER.

He also did not know what RASS was, how to test cranial nerves, and a few other mind boggling things.

Sorry - I just assumed that was one of the dual programs. IE for the CNM you could apply CNM, FNP or dual CNM/FNP. You could get into one but not the other.

okay you got me there, I should be being positive. thank you for that ?❤️

I just called, and was told they hope to release decisions any day. When she checked my app, she said there was no decision yet (!), but to “hang in there” because “once financial aid comes out, we’ll see a lot of drops.” Wait, wut?

Whaaaaa the heck does that mean??

Have most of you already applied for financial aid? I was waiting to get and answer... oops?

Probably just because it’s SUPER expensive. The one year of post-specialty work is quoted at like $90k+ (From the open house pamphlet). Probably scares a lot of people off. That’s a lot of debt for just a MSN.
