Thanks, but I didn’t apply to any other schools only Vany. I lied ?

I am so sorry! I'm sure you will get into another program and I wish you all the best!

So this is how I went about it. I called and spoke to a person in admissions (leaving name out) and told them that I received the updated email about when decisions will be sent out “hopefully”. I then said that I have to make a final decision about another school this Friday. She then said I would accept their offer. I told her thank you so much and have a great day.

I then called back and spoke to the person who knows me by name and file and told her how much I appreciate her kindness, encouragement, and support. I told her I was able to get the answer I needed to move on. She then said I just did not have the heart to tell you and besides I would lose my job. I told her I understand and not to feel bad that I was ok. The End.

I am so sorry :( i hope that this gives you the closure you need to move on to another program that will appreciate your strengths. Like i said feel free to reach out to me in regards to doing your ABSN. I know you had mentioned the cost as a con but it might actually save you over 60k just for your BSN and the route will only take you an extra year. Goodluck! You’re a great candidate so don’t give up on your dreams.

So sorry to hear you did not get in. Especially since this was the only place you applied.

dont give up on ANYTHING! Keep pushing and reapply to and other schools. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.

On the other note...

so so they have decisions....

Thank you all! Words cannot express how grateful I am for all of you. Please accept my warmest thanks for all of the thoughtfulness, support, and words of comfort. You cannot imagine how much strength all of your support has given me during this difficult time. I will definetly not give up on pursing my dream of becoming a psych NP.

In the mean time...I will continue to see my clients and provide psychoeducation and therapy and when my psych NPs graduate I will have plenty of referrals waiting for you ?

I too have been lurking more than commenting, but I've really come to appreciate all of your posts/ insight. Really hope I can follow your example of keeping positive and how to be when things don't work out as planned. Best of wishes and looking forward to seeing you reach your goals. You are going to make a wonderful NP!

Hi! I was going to apply to Nurse Corps. Do you mind sharing some of the cons? Thank you!

Sure! Well it's a service commitment so you have to work at an approved site for 2 years or more if part time. Some ppl in my award year had to move or drive far for this requirement. We received the scholarship but once we graduated the hospitals near our schools were rescored and were consequently not approved sites. I was lucky and did not have this problem. My friend took a year for a nurse residency at the VA and her site was rescored. They said she couldn't work there anymore and needed to find a new job. If you want to work at a site that's never been scored you have the responsibility of contacting the hospital and trying to get them to fill out verification paperwork. No one would do this for me when I tried to change sites since I wasn't an employee at the new site I was looking at. The scholarship is taxed. So about $4000 I had to pay in taxes. Wasn't too bad though. Someone at your place of employment has to verify your work hours. It was hard getting HR to respond back at first but now they're good for me. If you do not complete the 2 years you pay back everything they gave you. So my commitment is up July 2020 since I chose part time. If I dont work until then I have to pay them back $40,000. There's no partial credit. It's all or nothing. Some ppl in my award group had trouble finding work so they are paying HRSA back. They initially wanted $1,000 a month from one person but she talked them down to $600 a month. It's tough getting straight forward answers from the Nurse Corps sometimes. I had trouble when I went on maternity leave too. Overall it was a good scholarship. I just don't like commitments. I would do it again though to pay for my education. Apply for the other scholarship the NHSC I believe it is. It's tax free! You get a monthly stipend end which at the time mine was about 1300. You get money for books and school expenses which was 3000 I think and then they pay your tuition too. They back paid my tuition too since my class started in Jan and I got the scholarship in August. Let me know if you have any other specific questions I can answer.

I'm so sorry to hear this. You sound like an amazing person and I feel will make an excellent Psych NP. Please keep applying and don't give up on your dream. Take a break, take care of you, and apply again! You can do this and you will make it. Keep on pushing.

I know it seems like decisions won't be released this week, but I am still checking my portal every night at 5pm ?
