For prospective applicants for the 2017 year in the program. Being as I am currently wait listed in the 2016 year due to a very late application, there is a high probability I would have to apply again come November 1st 2016 for the following year acceptance.

November 1st, 2016 is the priority application deadline for the 2017 year. All materials (GRE, official transcripts, application payment, letters of recommendation, statement of intent) must have been submitted by this date.

Letters of acceptance for August 2016 orientation and start were sent out the first week of February 2016. Wait listed recipients received their wait list offer in an around the first week of March 2016 with the caveat that seats may open well into late July.

I have applied for PMHNP at Vanderbilt, currently waiting to have my interview. Has anyone heard when acceptances will be issued ? Might they give the applicant an informal "yes" indication at time of interview?

Does anyone know if they are done extending pre specialty PMHNP interview invitations? At least to those who applied before Nov 1?

I interviewed for prespecialty PMHNP today and they said they will be conducting interviews until the end of January.

Hello binkmink13,

All PMHNP and CNM pre-specialty students get interviewed. Due to the nature of specific specialties the VUSN admissions team wants to make sure those who are admitted have a good grasp of scope of practice, etc.

I don't think that ALL of them get interviewed. I think it's only the most competitive candidates.

Hello neurograd,

I don't remember exact statistics but their are roughly 30 folks in the PMHNP track with me. I don't have average scores either but can tell you that with PMHNP your statement of purpose and interview are weighted heavily. All PMHNP students will interview with a faculty member from that specialty. My interview was very pleasant, we spoke about my personal experiences and why I chose psych, what my areas of interest were and how I could incorporate them into my education. My experience was not like a job interview at all.

mccampion,

Do you mean that all applicants get interviewed? Or if you don't receive an interview, you didn't make the first cut?

Nvm, didn't see above post!

kitpower...you make a good point. Those who are being considered for admission will get interviewed.

Hi all! Was anyone interviewed by 2 faculty members? Just curious how that went!

Is it to early to assume that it's not a good sign if you applied for PMHNP before the November 1 deadline and havent heard anything yet?

I was interviewed by two faculty members (PMHNP applicant). It was a pretty relaxed conversation, and I enjoyed talking to them. It left me with a positive view of the program. They definitely were looking at my application as they were able to quote certain things I wrote in my personal statement (just to give context to their questions-- no grilling over details). They asked why VU, if there was any particular population I was specifically interested in, how I manage stress, etc. it took about 20 minutes.
