Hello,
I am applying for the MSN program in '15, due in December. I was wondering if anyone knew how much weight the GRE holds, in regards to being competitive? I am a little nervous about my scores not being competitive. Any advice will help!
Best regards,
I've been enjoying the faces of my friends and colleagues when I told them I got into Vanderbilt. "You? Down SOUTH? Ehhh. I can't imagine that." Even with that, I'm still excited to think about attending Vanderbilt! I'd been so sure my supplemental questions were terrible that I hadn't put much thought into what I'd do if I got in. I checked Craigslist for apartment price ranges and the Bostonian in me wept at the thought of paying heat/hot water.
I'm waiting to hear back from Columbia, Yale, MGH and Rochester. I'm hoping most of those release decisions by mid-February.
Hi everyone. I was accepted to the pre-specialty FNP track, but I have been regretting my choice - I think I should have chosen AG-ACNP. My goal is to be an ER nurse practitioner, and most of the good ER NP residencies are for ACNP only. However, it does seem possible to work your way over to main ER (not fast track) as an FNP, and the Mayo clinic does have an FNP-eligible one. I feel like ideally I'd to try to switch over, but I'm afraid of coming off as ungrateful or giving a bad impression before I even arrive.
Any advice?
I was in the same boat. I was FNP then switched last minute to ac-agnp. I would present your predicament to Joan King. This early in the decision process, there might be a possibility.
I plan to eventually become an ER NP, but the biggest degree I think is getting ACNP first. Then get the FNP later on down the road, online program. Something quick and easy. ACNP is the degree used most in ER. Good luck!

Magoosh's math videos were super helpful for me! For math, skip the hard ones and do what you can with the rest. It's about your ability to quickly assess data, not your number crunching talents. Know your strengths, too. I skipped most of the linear algebra questions until I had everything else squared away. I pretty much got every one of those questions wrong on practice tests, so it wasn't worth freaking out about when I had easier word problems I knew I could do.
Kaplan's writing and verbal tips were pretty good! Magoosh has a GRE blog that has good advice, as well.
