Vanderbilt 2021 Direct Entry

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey guys!

Vandy's application opens tomorrow! I am so anxious to start the application. There is a Pre-Specialty thread already started so I want to start this one for direct entry. Post questions, comments, experiences, and anything else. Good luck everyone! You've got this!

Hi All!

I cannot believe how long we will all be waiting! How is everyone feeling?

Is it the same application?

I believe so. I remember the general application asking "With what degree are you entering".

okay perfect thank you this helps a ton- I just couldn't remember

Hey, does anyone that has gone through the direct entry program or has any info know if you have a 2nd bachelor's degree (in nursing) from the same school if looks at just your BSN GPA or your tentative history of all college education?

My first degree was several years ago and is pulling me down because it's all listed together on the same transcript.

Thanks!

Hey all! Nice to meet you. I have been applying for CRNA school for the past ~3 years with no luck (2 interviews but have retaken classes and boosted my GPA as much as possible). I've somewhat lost my drive for it, so have decided to pursue the MSN here at  in hopes of still becoming an advanced practice provider. I've submitted my app but still waiting for a snail mail transcript from one school, so it appears I've missed the early deadline.

I'm an ED RN but spent a couple years in the ICU for CRNA applications. I love the ED as a nurse, but want to be doing hands-on procedures. Therefore I applied for the AGACNP route. Does anyone know how many spots each specialty offers?

And what about you? How did you decide which specialty to pursue?

I applied for the PMHNP program! I graduate with my BSN this December and have experience as president of our school's mental health organization and research experience in my specialty. BSN + prereq GPA is around 3.6 but including my previous degree, GPA is a 3.3. Hoping they focus on BSN!

I applied in the priority group for full-time out of the Nashville area. Goodluck to everyone!!

Anyone get the email that says:

'Your application is complete and will be reviewed by faculty in the priority cohort. Admission decisions will be sent to the email address used on your application in the third week in February. There will not be any further updates on your application checklist until admission decisions are released.'

I think this is the official confirmation that our applications have been completed and are up for priority decisions!! Good luck, everyone!

I received this email on the 26th like you, but I just received it again(?) today. I don't know why I would receive it twice. Anyone else get this email more than once? It seems odd and makes me nervous...but then again, everything makes me nervous right now (between applications and election, etc.). Thanks!

I got both as well. Some people may have had reference letters or transcripts still pending previously and are now cleared and the new complete email was just sent to everyone whose is complete again?

Silly question, but is Vanderbilt Pre-Specialty hybrid, all online, or all in person? I can't tell from the website although an NP told me it's all online?

Hi! Pre-specialty is all in-person I believe. The second year for direct-entry students is optional hybrid with some in class time and majority online or in person in Nashville. Some of the pre-specialty students are required to have in person classes their second year. I think it depends on specialty for them.
