Vanderbilt 2021 Direct Entry

Published

Hey guys!

Vandy's application opens tomorrow! I am so anxious to start the application. There is a Pre-Specialty thread already started so I want to start this one for direct entry. Post questions, comments, experiences, and anything else. Good luck everyone! You've got this!

When did you apply? I applied after the deadline. I was in another program (MPH) and decided I wanted to go more clinical. I’m hoping the fact that I had a 4.0 in undergrad and the first semester of my MPH, 17 years of nursing, and applied outside Tennessee will help...not sure though.

I applied late also unfortunately... I only got 2 years of Nursing experience but a 3.7 Cumulative! So we will see, I’m super stressed about it ?

I paid the deposit for University of Miami (and tuition is reasonable) so that's my top choice right now. I am seriously considering Vanderbilt if I can work through moving to a new state and resolving the tuition hurdle. So confused.

That's tough - especially if U of Miami is significantly less expensive. I really struggled with choosing Columbia, even though it's the best overall fit, because of the cost. I had hoped that Vandy would come in with a generous financial aid package to give me a more practical option. It didn't, but it did make my decision easier. I'd be curious to hear what school you end up choosing!

Anyone here still haven't found out if they got in? I called admissions to ask (I applied after the deadline). I was told they are still releasing priority decisions right now and should have all decisions released by the end of Feb or earlier...

Hello! For anyone that was accepted did you transfer any credits? What credits have been accepted? I called Vanderbilt to see if I could try and take some classes in advance and they were VERY unhelpful.

@ForeverPsych Congrats on your acceptances! I am in the same boat as you with acceptances from Columbia, Yale, Vanderbilt, and Penn (although I will not be going to Penn). I am curious what your reasons are for choosing Columbia aside from the generous scholarship. Before Vandy's acceptance came in, I was deciding between Columbia and Yale. But now that I know Vandy is only two years with the option to practice in most states, I am completely torn. I've been most impressed by the support from faculty at Yale but wish the program gave two degrees like Columbia. I like that at Columbia I can exit/pause after a year with a Master's degree (albeit loose the seamless scholarship). Both Yale and Columbia have been pretty awesome with aid, and Vandy's been okay. I like that at Vandy we could be earning a full salary after just two years. Thoughts???

Hello! I got into the PMHNP program and I am pretty sure that direct entry is only one year, not two. Unsure if that makes a difference for you.

Direct Entry can be broken down into two years. I got into the AGPCNP program and got approved to do the 2 year parttime route!

@Nurse2b2021 I don't want to speak for @ForeverPsych Columbia is appealing for many because it is a doctoral program versus the MSN at the others. All of the schools are amazing choices!

Is anyone starting the post-masters FNP route? Just found out I got admitted!

Congratulations!

Hey everyone!

I applied by the priority deadline and still haven't heard anything. Anyone else still in this same boat?

Congrats to all who have been accepted!
