Vanderbilt 2021 Direct Entry

Published

Hey guys!

Vandy's application opens tomorrow! I am so anxious to start the application. There is a Pre-Specialty thread already started so I want to start this one for direct entry. Post questions, comments, experiences, and anything else. Good luck everyone! You've got this!

When did you apply? I applied after the deadline. I was in another program (MPH) and decided I wanted to go more clinical. I’m hoping the fact that I had a 4.0 in undergrad and the first semester of my MPH, 17 years of nursing, and applied outside Tennessee will help...not sure though.

I’m in for prespecialty - AGPC!

Can anyone confirm if the MSN specialty is only one year? The financial aid email I received a few weeks ago says the Prespecialty is one year and most MSN specialties are one year. Is this right? Thanks in advance!

Accepted for PMHNP specialty ?

Congrats!!

Does anyone know if all the scholarship awards (both full and partial scholarships) are in the acceptance letter or determined at a later point?

I received an award but I really wish I had received a full scholarship because the tuition is so crazy high.

Thanks! Congratulations to you too! My financial aid award was only $7,800. I believe this is it.

Thanks ForeverPsych...wow....OK...hah! My award is quite sad so I am not working with much.  I love Vanderbilt and am happy I got accepted but the finances definitely would need to be evaluated.

If it makes you feel any better, there’s no “grass is greener on the other side” when it comes to the cost of these programs. Yale only offered me $6,300/year. Columbia actually offered me the most - a combined scholarship amount of $90,000 - but of course their program is crazy expensive.

It may be possible to work during the MSN specialty year, though.

I agree with you. I got into a few other schools including Emory and University of Miami. Also, had no scholarship awards at all. Makes me feel better what you said about the grass isn't necessarily greener on the other side.

By the way, which school are you going to select? Columbia, Yale, or Vandy?

Columbia. What about you?

I paid the deposit for University of Miami (and tuition is reasonable) so that's my top choice right now. I am seriously considering Vanderbilt if I can work through moving to a new state and resolving the tuition hurdle. So confused.
