Hey everyone,
I recently submitted my Nursing, Traditional application on May 11th! I have met all the requirements for the program for the past 2 years! However, I decided to hold off until my daughter started kindergarten. (I also have a two year old EEK!) I am so excited to hear back already!
For previous applicants/students: How long did you wait to hear back from them? How is the program overall? Is there any advice you'd like to give? Anyone remember or know what the first semester's schedule is like? Also, since I have completed my A.A, financial aid is saying that I have too many hours and need to submit an appeal form. Anyone else have to do this? Or, is there any scholarships that I can look into? Any advice would be a great deal of help!
Ahh, I'm so excited and nervous!!
rrivera86 do you know by any chance where your fiance bought the littmann from? I know Amazon has them but I'm so scared to order from them and receive a knock off version. Any suggestions on reliable sites to order from?
Hi,
He ordered it from Amazon.... the reviews were mostly good. I was scared too but happy he made the decision for me or it would have taken me forever to decide on one lol
abarreto, Same! I ordered from that site too and I also got the Classic III along with a case for it. The BP cuff I got is the "ADC PROSPHYG 760 ADULT". I also got the Fortelux N Diagnostic penlight (a bit on the pricier side but wanted one that would last for awhile even though I'm sure I will lose it!) LOL
meydiaz, did yours come in yet? Thanks for the info on the BP cuff and penlight, I'm going to look into those today.
Anyone else hear back on their Appeal for financial Aid? I'm ready to pay out-of-pocket if needed, but it would be a hugeee blessing to hear back something positive before having to pay for classes.
We should look into making a Facebook page. I've seen a few other nursing classes do this and it seems like a great way to communicate, motivate and just keep each other in the loop. I'm in one of their closed groups gathering notes lol
So far I brought all white sneakers, khaki pants, a pen light, watch, a lab coat, the 2 calculators, a recorder and a stethoscope. The stethoscope I brought was inexpensive because I plan on buying a better once I've graduated. As for the blood pressure cuff I am still looking for one. Everytime I look at reviews for blood pressure cuffs someone is saying that after a few times of using it only one side fills up with air so that worries me. So I'm probably going to get one from that website.
And abarreto that's a good idea, someone should make a Facebook page!

You're welcome! Just ordered mine last night and I got it engraved so I'm guessing it may take several days to come in :) As far as the Facebook page I truly hope someone makes one! I also think it would be a good idea for everyone to be able to communicate!
Hey guys, my name is Jazmine. I'm 20 years old and I was accepted into the VCC/UCF Concurrent Nursing Program for Fall 2016! I've been reading/keeping up with a lot of these discussions since last summer, so I figured it was time to stop being a creeper and join in. So far I've purchased my stethoscope (Littmann Classic 3, $99 including engraving, my stethoscope.com), khaki pants (dickies, $19, Walmart), watch (pink casio diver watch, $17, Walmart), and I have my white lab coat from Micro, which I heard we can just buy the Valencia patch for. I received my stethoscope a week or two ago (very fast shipping), and I am extremely impressed with the quality. I used it on everyone in my family, including my 2 dogs lol. I am still waiting to purchase white shoes to see what everyone else's thoughts are. I've been looking at the Sketcher Premium Slip Ons on Amazon, super hideous but they have great reviews for nursing students. Also looking into getting my BP cuff shortly after orientation! Today I completed my drug test, fingerprints, and uploaded my shot records. I was able to get all my records from the health department. I am also attending the CPR class at Valencia on July 16th. I am in the process of finding a place that gives free/cheap physicals as I am uninsured at the moment. Any suggestions would be great! Orientation is just a few days away and I couldn't be more excited!
Have any of you guys checked out the "Nursing" section on Atlas? It's under the "Students" tab all the way on the bottom left corner. Today they uploaded a "Class/Clinical Schedule" for Fall 2016. There was also a post added in June regarding registration for Fall 2016 and what day it becomes available, it's very informative if you haven't already looked at it.
Also, I recently completed my AA in Spring 2016 and am in the process of completing my appeal. I've had issues in the past with not receiving financial aid, so I'm hoping this is my answer. So far I have only received my signed education plan via email from one of the nursing advisors. I want to meet up with a regular advisor if we have any breaks during orientation to see if I can get any tips on completing the SAP statement. Have any of you guys had any luck with completing yours?
