Hey everyone,
I recently submitted my Nursing, Traditional application on May 11th! I have met all the requirements for the program for the past 2 years! However, I decided to hold off until my daughter started kindergarten. (I also have a two year old EEK!) I am so excited to hear back already!
For previous applicants/students: How long did you wait to hear back from them? How is the program overall? Is there any advice you'd like to give? Anyone remember or know what the first semester's schedule is like? Also, since I have completed my A.A, financial aid is saying that I have too many hours and need to submit an appeal form. Anyone else have to do this? Or, is there any scholarships that I can look into? Any advice would be a great deal of help!
Ahh, I'm so excited and nervous!!
Hey, Jasmine! Are you by any chance Pam's friend?? I'm Kevin's sister, Angie! :) Thanks for all the info girl! I'm about done with everything too! Just need to go back for my PPD reading and then upload my shot records. However, I do need to find some khakis and a watch so I'll check those out! I'm also attending the CPR class at Valencia on the 16th. As far as the SAP form goes, I submitted it about 2 weeks ago and have yet to hear anything back. Fingers crossed for some good news soon!
Yes Angie, I am! I totally forgot Kevin told me you were also accepted! Yesterday I asked Kev if this was you and he said yes! I was so excited when he told me, I can't wait to finally meet you! With the watch, everyone has been getting the white one, but I got the pink because I had read a lot of reviews where people said ink or dark fabrics caused discoloration but it's up to you! It was cheap, water-resistant, and has military time as well! Yay that is awesome! Yes let us know if you get word back. I'm eager to submit mine, but I want to make sure I do everything correctly, just because it does take so long to hear back! Thanks for the quick response btw, hope you're enjoying your night!
Hey guys, my name is Jazmine. I'm 20 years old and I was accepted into the VCC/UCF Concurrent Nursing Program for Fall 2016! I've been reading/keeping up with a lot of these discussions since last summer, so I figured it was time to stop being a creeper and join in. So far I've purchased my stethoscope (Littmann Classic 3, $99 including engraving, my stethoscope.com), khaki pants (dickies, $19, Walmart), watch (pink casio diver watch, $17, Walmart), and I have my white lab coat from Micro, which I heard we can just buy the Valencia patch for. I received my stethoscope a week or two ago (very fast shipping), and I am extremely impressed with the quality. I used it on everyone in my family, including my 2 dogs lol. I am still waiting to purchase white shoes to see what everyone else's thoughts are. I've been looking at the Sketcher Premium Slip Ons on Amazon, super hideous but they have great reviews for nursing students. Also looking into getting my BP cuff shortly after orientation! Today I completed my drug test, fingerprints, and uploaded my shot records. I was able to get all my records from the health department. I am also attending the CPR class at Valencia on July 16th. I am in the process of finding a place that gives free/cheap physicals as I am uninsured at the moment. Any suggestions would be great! Orientation is just a few days away and I couldn't be more excited!Have any of you guys checked out the "Nursing" section on Atlas? It's under the "Students" tab all the way on the bottom left corner. Today they uploaded a "Class/Clinical Schedule" for Fall 2016. There was also a post added in June regarding registration for Fall 2016 and what day it becomes available, it's very informative if you haven't already looked at it.
Also, I recently completed my AA in Spring 2016 and am in the process of completing my appeal. I've had issues in the past with not receiving financial aid, so I'm hoping this is my answer. So far I have only received my signed education plan via email from one of the nursing advisors. I want to meet up with a regular advisor if we have any breaks during orientation to see if I can get any tips on completing the SAP statement. Have any of you guys had any luck with completing yours?
Hi Jazmine welcome! Thanks for all the information, I'm headed to Walmart to buy my khakis and watch tomorrow! I'm hoping they have that same style watch in black! I also have my white lab coat from Microbiology that I took at UCF it's just SO long on me, I might have to end up getting a smaller one :/ I also just took a look at the Nursing website on Atlas! I was looking over the schedule and it doesn't look too bad except for our lab days which looks like it will be from 9-4 with an hour break from 12-1. Seems tiring but I'm sure we will be learning plenty of interesting things during that time so I'm really looking forward to it!
Same here Abarreto, I submitted mine back on the 23rd of June and still have not heard back, hopefully soon we will! I can't wait to meet ya'll on Friday, any word on the FB page?
I to submitted mine a couple weeks ago.. I keep checking my mail but I know it probably won't be any time soon. When I turned mine in the lady I was dealing with kept insisting not to worry about rushing because they were still doing summer appeals (I was shocked since summer classes are almost done, but ok).. But I wanted to get it in and not worry about it.. So it'll probably be a little while

I got accepted into the concurrent program too! Is our orientation supposed to be longer? I got an email from UCF yesterday saying that the UCF portion of the orientation starts at 12 and ends at 5.
Thanks for pointing out where the Nursing section on Atlas. I saw posts from another year saying that it would be there, but I could never find it.
Have you checked out the Nursing page for UCF? It's in Web course.

I would make the Facebook page, but I wouldn't even know where to start. Hopefully someone makes it soon though.

Yes, I received that email too and I believe it is longer! Ours is combining our VCC nursing orientation, UCF Transfer orientation and UCF nursing! It's quite long but I'm sure it will answer a lot of our questions!
I had no idea UCF had one as well, thank you so much for mentioning it! I'll check it out now! I'm honestly very unfamiliar with UCF's system since I graduated from Valencia :/ I'm really hoping they thoroughly explain the process for registering for classes for both schools, since we are technically taking classes from both institutions simultaneously.
Also, don't forget to bring cash if you plan on buying the polo at orientation!

Well I guess that means I'll be drinking a lot of coffee! I hope so, as long as the person giving the orientation isnt monotone I feel like it will go by quick.
No problem! I found out they had one by reading something on the UCF nursing page, but it doesn't seem like they have posted much recently. I think at the UCF transfer orientation they will. If anything I could help you figure it out if you would like. I went to UCF for a semester so I know how to register for classes and what not. My name is Kim by the way.

Haha oh yeah, same here! I'm definitely a firm believer in the power of caffeine! I agree, hopefully our excitement will keep us going! I'm glad they have the FIT test there for us, one more thing to cross off the list!
Yeah I took a look on my phone, but I feel like I'll be able to get a closer look from the computer.
Hi Kim, I'm Jazmine nice to meet you! And yes that would very helpful! I would really appreciate it!
