Valencia College Spring 2016

Hello everyone,

I know it may be a little early but who will be applying to Valencia's nursing program for spring 2016? I will be submitting my application next week and I just wanted to start a thread to see if anyone submitted their application already!

Yeah he's starting day care January which will be his first time, so that's going to help. What kind of stuff did you need to get done before hand? I already have my CPR cert. And through my work i can get titers done and I get the flu shot through my work, is there anything else? Besides books of uniforms of course.

yes get all the titers. the uniforms you have to buy them at a specific place. bring money to the orientation to get your polo shirts. we wear regular clothes for lecture and a navy blue polo shirt (you can buy it at yhe orientation $30 each) kaki pants, can't be jean it has to be those dickies you buy at walmart. white regular tennis shoes and white socks. nail have to short, no acrylics or gel nails not even clear nail polish. you can only wear one pair of small earrings, tattoos have to ve cover with a under long sleeves shirt it has to be blue or white depending on you uniform if you cant get your polo shirt at the orientation I recommend you to get a cheap one from Walmart because we didn't get them right away. they are going to give the instructions to login in a website called certified profile. it's really good because you scan your titers and papers load them and that's it. that people will take of the fingerprinting and background check. try to buy your books from amazon except the fundamentals and pharmacology. books are freaking expensive. during the orientation they are going to tell you about dosage book BUY IT AS SOON AS THEY SAY AND READ IT AND PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE.

there is a screen shot of how it looks like. the physical examination they will provide a simple form. the fit test is a mask fitting test they do during orientation I think. if you are positive for tuberculosis due a vaccine (like I am) you need to get a x-ray done and upload the along with some other forms. it was easy it wasn't difficult to get all done, like I said you need to have $190 for the certificate profile swrvice

oh girls sorry about my typing! I am not good at it, you will understand why once you start nursing school. don't get scared, the first three weeks were easy, the first week is just orientation orientation and more orientation, oh I forgot to mention get a good stethoscope don't get a cheap one unless you can't afford a good one. I have a Littmann classic ES II. if you can get your stethoscope and a blood pressure cuff and watch videos on youtube and start practicing how to take blood pressure. the first exam is 21 chapters! yes 21 chapters

do not worry about your typing I understood all of it! and yeah I went through EMT school recently but I want to upgrade my stethoscope to a littmann (I am going to ask for that for Christmas lol) but seriously thank you! I am going to work on getting my shot records and all that now since my schedule so hectic already. and I will start saving up money! I just got my fit test done at work so hopefully I can turn that in? and hopefully I can find my shot records through my school record, I will have to get a tb test done because ORMC doesn't offer them anymore unless you have been exposed. thanks again!!!!

you are welcome, if you can afford get the titers just get the titers, there are vaccines that need a second shot like tdap or Dtap whatever it is LOL. I just got the titers and just get the fit test at school is free and part of the orientation. I love every minute of nursing school but all I drink, eat, smell, touch, think, feel, it's nursing school. yesterday we got the Florida hospital badging and the brought us free food, it was so yummy, after having to pack lunches every day for school having a free yummy meal is priceless.

that's good that it is apart of orientation so that helps. do they split us up for orientation since there are so many of us?

I know that is there 80 in west campus and 40 at osceola. you will see when you register that there at three groups : silver and red are from west campus and gold is from osceola. there are day that we all groups get together for lecture

the orientation is for all students, also for those who doesn't recieve financial aid beside saving for certified profile there's a lab kit you need to order and it will be given to you the first week of class, so if you don't receive financial aid I think the price is almost $200, dont buy pen light and scissors because the come with the bag

Did you send an email to health sciences? You have been waiting for almost 9 weeks now which is crazy. I'm sure you got in since you applied early enough.
