Hello everyone,

I know it may be a little early but who will be applying to Valencia's nursing program for spring 2016? I will be submitting my application next week and I just wanted to start a thread to see if anyone submitted their application already!

Thank you for your insight! It definitely seems do-able. I can't wait to start nursing school but first I hope that I get accepted into Valencia.

I applied and got accepted 3 weeks later, I am glad it was fast because I was so nervous, omg getting the email was so exciting I cried LOL

it's time consuming, I don't have a social life so it didn't affect me, anoter thing is make make sure you practice for for skills check off. prof Dial is really good she actually reviewed the book we are using.

What is the skills check off? I won't have a social life probably. What is your schedule the first semester?

my schedule is monday and Wednesday 9 to 12:30, and Tuesday and Thursday 9 to 4 with one hour break that is lab day. well check off is that they will teach you ONCE how to take vital signs and do a physical assessment. after that you practice practice and practice and demonstrate to the professor that you know to do it, you will hear "critical elements" memorize it and practice until you cannot take it anymore LOL. I failed my wound care check off, I demostrated how to clean a wound but I missed a step. you have 3 chances to pass the skill, if you don't pass them you are out of the program. a passing grade is 77

once you get in nursing school you don't give a crap about your GPA, all you care about is passing. if you girls get accepted let me know and please ask me whatever you want to know, before you get accepted make sure u have saved some money because you will have to get shots or blood work and pay $190 to the people that is going to take care of background check. it's an easy process. nursing school is not easy but I enjoy every minute of it. it's an exciting career with so much to learn!

What about on Fridays? Is that usually a clinical day? Thank you so much for your insight. Hopefully this week is the week that I hear back from them. If I get accepted and go to Valencia, I will be contacting you.

yes! I will give you my email, Friday is off it's a good day to practice, nursing one only have 2 days of clinicals towards the mid of the semester. the concurrent program is different I am just doing the AS

I got placed on the wait list for the UCF Cocoa and Daytona program so now I'm waiting to hear back the decision from Valencia for the concurrent program or the tradition AS program. Can you message me your email. I'll let you know if I get in once I find out.

yay! I love hearing from people in the program. I start in January and I currently work as a nursing assistant at ORMC, and I have been working in the medical field now for about 4 years. (3 years in the micro lab and 1 year as NA) I have to keep my job, and I also have a toddler and I am nervous about the work load but I have worked my butt off to get here so I am not going to let anything stop me!

it's doable but you will need help with your child. it all depends on how good you are managing your time
