Valencia College Spring 2015

I just found out that I have been accepted into Valencia's Spring 2015 Nursing program!!! I heard from someone that it is possible to start a semester or two before your scheduled start date.....is that true? Also, can someone please tell me how much the uniforms (shirts) and other expenses are prior to the start of the program? I know you have to wear khaki pants...what about the sneakers? Is it all white or can it have some color added to it? What is the usual schedule for Nursing 1 and 2? Thank for any response you can provide! I can't wait to start! :yes:

Ok, I am confused. They gave us a book list at meeting. Are you saying that at the last minute, they could change books on THAT list?

I understand about the Book Store, they don't have an official list yet, that they connect to each class and Professor. But I thought the list given to us was the official list. Which is kinda different then what the Book Store presently says. On one list a book would be listed as optional or required and the book store would have it listed different.

@spangle. Yea that's what I am saying... Like a semester or twobago that happened...my friend that just graduated said same thing...they are constantly changing the books which is weird to me... So that's why I didn't take the chance on a almost $200 book... But that doesn't mean it will happen...just going to wait...since I got my FA now...our aid will be available on the 8th...so I will be there first thing in the morning...gives me a little more than a month to study...but I'm gonna buy the calculating dosages from amazon... So no worries... And as previous posted she said that they just changed the book...so it most likely won't be changing..but I'd rather save my money and let my aid pay for it...;)

Dang, that is not good. I have to leave on Wed, and I will not be back until Jan 6th. I need that book to study while I am gone. IF I will be able to study while dealing with my Mom. I guess I will just have to get it, and deal with the changes. I know that lady said there was 2 chapters she really said it would be good to know before hand. And a couple of students told me to read the first 20 chapters which will be due the second week of school. As an older, returning student, I need all the extra study time I can get. If I have to upgrade it, maybe I can resale it and get some of my money back, even at the used price. UGH!

Did anyone else write down which chapters we can read up on from Fundamentals of Nursing? I have chapters 29-33 and 41.....am I correct?

Hello Boragirl02. At orientation one of the professors clearly stated to start reading chapters 29-33. Also they told us to read the nursing handbook which is under your student tab, under nursing. Hope this helps.

@boragirl... The lady said mid December... But never gave me a date...our fin aid is supposed to be available on Monday...so I will be there in hopes that the books are available. At least the main Ines for now...

@spangle they said no crocs. Has to be all white sneaker like shoes.

you can wear the white clogs that look like crocs though, but they are solid and have a back around the ankle unlike crocs.

I am currently a student in nyc and moving down to Florida how is the program at Valencia so far the classes i have taken my grades are so/so

A&P1 C+

Psychology 1 B-

A&P2 I am taking it this semester i feel like i am going to get a B-

Development psychology I am taking it now this semester

chemistry for nursing I got a A-

general chemistry c+

eng101 A

eng 102 B

i am taking the teas this January

my question is that should what are my chances of getting into this program

@zolojan if you meet the minimum requirements for the program you will get in, you just have to wait your turn to start. getting in is not the hard part, surviving the program is. Having A's in your sciences is important. The information you learn in anatomy and physio and even microbiology are important for your foundation in nursing school. Just my opinion though.

Minimum overall college GPA (including transfer coursework) will be 3.2.

Minimum overall GPA in the science prerequisites (Anatomy & Physiology I and II and Microbiology) will be 3.0.

Minimum overall GPA in the other nursing prerequisites (PSY2012, DEP2004, ENC1101, HUN2202, and Humanities) will be 3.2.
