I just found out that I have been accepted into Valencia's Spring 2015 Nursing program!!! I heard from someone that it is possible to start a semester or two before your scheduled start date.....is that true? Also, can someone please tell me how much the uniforms (shirts) and other expenses are prior to the start of the program? I know you have to wear khaki pants...what about the sneakers? Is it all white or can it have some color added to it? What is the usual schedule for Nursing 1 and 2? Thank for any response you can provide! I can't wait to start! :yes:

Thanks, glad to know we have that option if it should happen. I have been really scared and worried about it.

What about ATI tests? Does Valencia use them or any other kind of special course testing?

You can repeat 1 semester with permission from the program. There isn't ATI testing but we have to take a HESI at the end of the semester which is an exam with NCLEX style questions.

What percentage of the course grade is connected to the HESI test?

It depends on the semester. I can't remember for nursing 1, but you'll see it on the syllabus that you'll be getting soon!

I finally got my books today! The dosages book has been revised so I'm gonna have to sell the version I bought a few months ago.

I"m not sure we use that in a class. Just that we have to learn it and know it. I would verify first, before selling and buying a new book.

I got questions.

The Fundamentals chapter 29-33, how soon will we be tested on that?

The Dosage Cal, same thing. How soon will we be tested on that and will they do any teaching it? We are 100% on our one on it, right?

What is the first week going to be like?

Do we wear our blue shirts everyday we go to class? I only bought one at the time. So I might need to drive to west campus to get another one. I don't want to be stinky. LOL!

Those 1st chapters will be on the first test which will probably be 3 or so weeks after the semester starts. There will be around 20 chapters on the 1st test. There is dosage on all tests but the one you must pass is at the end of the semester. You will have dosage boot camp on Wednesday next week (probably, unless it's changed since my 1st semester) but you can totally teach yourself. Blue shirts are Tues and Thurs. I have 2 and that was enough for me. The first week is pretty light. The first day is basic and then you have lab orientation day 2 and day 3 is dosage boot camp and I can't remember day 4.

Thank you so much! My stress level just went down. Just knowing what the scheduled will be next week helped a lot. I guess I better get to work on those dosing Cal. I found the first part of the book boring, so I haven't been working on it like I should. Now I am behind. Anyone use the online stuff that comes with it?

None of it is exciting but it's really important. Some people have a really hard time with it so just be happy if you don't bc it's one less thing you have to worry about.

We all have our strengths and weaknesses. Spelling and pronunciation is what will make me the joke of the class. But it can not be helped. I will just have to work extra hard on those areas.

I want to go to VC for nursing, what are the pre reqs? Also is there really a 2 year wait list?
