Valencia College Spring 2015

I just found out that I have been accepted into Valencia's Spring 2015 Nursing program!!! I heard from someone that it is possible to start a semester or two before your scheduled start date.....is that true? Also, can someone please tell me how much the uniforms (shirts) and other expenses are prior to the start of the program? I know you have to wear khaki pants...what about the sneakers? Is it all white or can it have some color added to it? What is the usual schedule for Nursing 1 and 2? Thank for any response you can provide! I can't wait to start!

When did you put in your appeal? I didn't mines on the 7th right after orientation... And it still says graduated. I really hope they approve me. I don't remember it taking this long. I hears back within like 3/days last time. I'm getting scared.

I just put my appeal a week and a half ago, like the 11th or 12th. maybe you should go talk to the answer center tomorrow and see whats going on. I was going to go talk to them tomorrow if I didn't get the email explaining what appeal plan d meant....because it says i still have no awards lol.

They emailed me first thing this morning with approval and another email with my award information, but they gave me a grant and not any loan offers.

Just emailed a financial aid specialist. So let's see what they have to say. If anything at all. I'm starting to get really worried. Then to top it off Celena Lie just emailed me about my compliances and that to make sure I am going to be able to take a seat in spring. I'm sure that email went out to everyone but just has me scared. So fingers still crossed.

Also..still have to do my finger printing... Do any of you guys know where I can go to get them done? And that $190 we paid covers the cost right? Thanks!!

Celena emailed everyone, don't worry. And if you follow the instructions on the certified profile you should find the locations after you submit the waiver, they are done at certain UPS stores. And yes it is included in the $190 we paid already, you just need a photo ID. I went to the UPS in Dr. Phillips.

I don't understand how I would get a pell grant but no loans to accept. I am searching for scholarships now.

Yea went to campus today...got my parking decal...they are available now for 2015 BTW. Got a new id finally...they were laughing at my 2002 ID..lol...went to book store to buy fundamentals book and I swear I saw them on floor in back corner...first she said they didn't have them...then I said I think that's the book back there and then they said that they haven't gotten the right numbers yet for courses so the books can possibly change. She said I can buy it but that I couldn't return it if it ends up wrong. So I'm gonna wait...didn't want to take the chance with a almost $200 book. I really need to start studying... And they said can't get them til mid December! Leaving us like a month to study. Anyone can help me out with a copy of the chapters we need to study or PDF file or something? I asked my friend and she doesn't have her books anymore. Please and thank you!

Oh and I talked about my FA and they said everything is still being processed... So I guess you got lucky with getting yours processed fast...this is killing me!lol also found out that for summer term I will have to pay out of pocket or get a loan since my aid won't roll over to use in summer...so that blows!!

Well update!! Just got awarded my financial aid!! Thank goodness!!! I guess me going yesterday made the difference... So yay school is def happening...excited!!!

If the book from the bookstore matches the fundamentals book on the list just buy it, they aren't going to change the book, the bookstore just doesn't know what you need. But they gave you a book list so you do know what you need.

And congrats on your financial aid. I think im going to go by today to ask about loans. I didn't take any classes this past fall so I get to split my grant between spring and summer this time, but next summer I am going to have to take a loan out in spring and save it for the summer.

That's what I said.... But I do remember someone post in another chat that they changed their book at the last minute... So that's the only reason as to why I just didn't get it. So who knows...I guess I will wait...

They just changed the book to the newer version like a year ago, and they had a hard time adjusting to it the first semester, so I don't think they're changing it again any time soon.. it should be the 9th edition. but its up to you.
