Published

Anyone apply to the VA RN NEW GRAD PROGRAM for PALO ALTO, LIVERMORE, or MENLO PARK and heard anything back yet?

I just received an email that I was selected to move forward in the process and that my application has been sent to the hiring manager.

Hey - What unit/location called you?

Hello, they didn’t specifically a unit but they told me Palo Alto. I applied Rehab services and acute care.

I applied at all 3 and chose acute care and then mental health. I was referred but I think everyone was that qualified. I have been told the VA hiring process is pretty long.

I read the VA's job posting and it mentioned 16 vacancies. Does this mean they will only hire 16 nurses for all departments: Med-Surg, Mental Health, Community Health, Rehab, and Outpatient?

Yikes. It's so competitive. I wonder how many apps they usually get. Good luck to all of us!!

Hello! I received a phone call yesterday to interview for OSS. Good luck to everyone!

Greetings from SoCal,

How did you find out about the new grad program at the VA? Even with friends who work at the VA locally it is challenging to get information about nursing positions within the VA. Thanks.

Specializes in Family medicine, Cardiology, Spinal Cord Injury.

all nursing positions for the VA are posted on USAJOBS.gov. If you have your BSN, SCI at the Long Beach VA is always looking for nurses. Of course, it's the hardest job in the hospital working in SCI, but you learn a lot and it's the foot in the door.

Hi guys ! Was anyone on the thread hired for this position? If so, would you mind giving me an idea of what your interview was like? how are you liking the program so far ?

Hello, I was wondering the same thing. Was anyone hired and can give an idea of how the time line went? I was referred and received a interview. They asked for my references at the end of the interview but its been 3 weeks and not a word. ?

I would wait 1-2 weeks more since not many people work over the holidays. I hope you will be given a chance ?

Thank you so much! I am still patiently waiting. Should I email the manager that interviewed me for an update soon?
