It sounds like you will be working in a clinic or long term care? Most acute care work 12 hr shifts with an occasional 8hr to complete the 40 hr work week. 5 days a week= 8 hr days and (usually every other weekend). If you work a weekend, they will give you days off during the week. If you have the weekend off, you will have one of the weekdays off. My work allows for us to fill out our own schedule- which they will try to accommodate as much as possible. Hope that helps!

My mistake, it took around 1.5 months. I received TO at end of March, then in mid-May, I received an official offer. They wanted me to start a week after, but I had to give 2 weeks' notice to my old job. I started in early June (the next pay cycle.

Congratulations!! From the tentative offer, it took about 3 months. I did everything the day I received the instructions. It was such a slow process.

Hello, Not sure if anyone ever got back to you. I was in the AFR, but not as a Nurse. I was an enlisted member and in Public Health... so the experiences will definitely be different. In my experience, we had our own mission different from Active Duty (AD), and thus, you may not work in the OR or ICU on your drill weekends even if you work OR or ICU in the civilian world. The exception will be the 2 weeks/year you are "activated" to do your annual tour or deployed to work alongside AD. If you are a new grad with a BSN, they will most likely have you direct commission (maybe as a 1LT, and if you have medical experience, you may go in as high as Cpt) and go to 5-week training for Officer Training School to teach you the customs and courtesies of the military/AF. Once done, you go back to your squadron to "drill" your one weekend a month and 2 weeks/yr. There may also be "On the Job Training," which you will complete with AD, but not sure if officers have that. P.s. not sure if you are in BSN or ADN 4th semester, but AF does not take ADNs as Nurse Officers.

Hello everyone! I am wondering if you can help me out with what to expect with the hiring process. I've been looking at older threads and understand that different VAs have different processes. Here is a brief timeline of what I've been through so far... interviewed end of Feb 2021 references in early Mar 2021 tentative offer end of Mar 2021 I submitted my dimensions, VetPro, and other HR paperwork within 3 days. However, I have not received anything regarding my E-qip or any instructions on fingerprinting and physical yet. I have called HR, and no response. Should I be patient and wait on this long, tedious process? My manager knows I am leaving because she was one of my references, and she asks pretty often when I will be leaving so she can prepare to hire someone else. Thank you in advance for your replies.

Thank you, I’m in the hybrid program. I really prefer going into class, free from distractions. However d/t Covid, the classes are all combined and online at the moment. I’m not sure how many applicants they receive each round, though I can tell you there’s less than 10 people in my hybrid cohort. The online cohort has about 15 people. Hope that helps!

My bad, I haven't checked this forum in a while. I didn't know HR's email either so I called the number at the bottom of the application and was transferred. She pretty much told me what they told you. It sucks that the managers couldn't just tell us straight up.

I reached out to the hiring manager and she told me to reach out to HR. So I did, and it turns out I just didn't get the position. ?
