UW BSN 2020

Published

I am hoping to start a thread for University of Washington’s BSN program for Fall 2020.

Is anyone else applying to the traditional BSN after being rejected or waitlisted for the ABSN? What are your strategies in improving your application this time around?

I am currently waitlisted for the ABSN, and having just completed my BS, I have my heart set on that program. But through the application process I realized that I would rather do two years of school at UW than do an ABSN anywhere else. I look forward to getting to know you all better in this process. Good luck to all the applicants!

I just got waitlisted, CONGRATS to everyone who made it!

I also got waitlisted!

Do you think they’d send out rejection emails?

In previous years those came out later the same day, but it does take time for all the acceptance and waitlists to come through! Best of luck!

I wonder how many waitlisted people they usually accept on average ??

Yeah I got my rejection email about ten minutes ago. CONGRATS to everyone who got in!

Hi, I just was notified of my acceptance into UW's BSN program which should be very exciting, but I already started my online classes at Highline for their ADN program and have made some new friendships in my cohort. I know this extremely entitled, and I know I'm in a lucky/privileged position, but I waited three years to get into the ADN program for Highline as it's the most conveniently located and best financial option for me. I applied to UW because after waiting so long for Highline, I gave up and submitted applications for universities (all of which rejected me except UW). Then in February, as I'm preparing for the UW exam, I get accepted into Highline.

I just don't know what's right for me. I know my family would be so proud if I attend UW, but I'm not sure if the learning environment is best for me. However, everyone loves UW so there must be a reason it's top-ranked, right? I don't know anyone who attended or is attending UW, so I'm not sure what the teachers are like or whether they'll be able to work closely with me to succeed. I strongly value a close relationship with my professors and peers.

I posted this separately earlier so that veteran students from both programs could talk about their experiences, but I'd like to hear other opinions. What made you all decide on UW?

I had also started at Shoreline from 6th but like I said earlier I would transfer to UW if I got in and I'm in. My ultimate goal is BSN so why not get it sooner than going through ADN and later an extra year for BSN. But for financial reasons if ADN is the better choice and you don't mind the extra months in school getting the BSN then go for it. There's no route that is wrong. To all those who got in Congratulation, to those who didn't I know it's not easy and it's OK not to be OK. Time will make it easier and hopefully you can try again and also look into ADN programs at the end of it all will all be Registered Nurses.

I also got a call after the acceptance emails were sent.

I got accepted! I was actually checking my emails when the acceptance email came in and upon seeing the "Congratulations," I started crying, and startled my family members. My only concern is that I received the email, but no phone calls. Is anyone else experiencing the same thing? I'm wondering if I will get a call next week although I already submitted my Intent to Register form today?

Anyways, congratulations to everyone who got accepted! I am excited to meet you all. By the way, will there be a facebook group for our cohort?
