UW BSN 2020

Published

I am hoping to start a thread for University of Washington’s BSN program for Fall 2020.

Is anyone else applying to the traditional BSN after being rejected or waitlisted for the ABSN? What are your strategies in improving your application this time around?

I am currently waitlisted for the ABSN, and having just completed my BS, I have my heart set on that program. But through the application process I realized that I would rather do two years of school at UW than do an ABSN anywhere else. I look forward to getting to know you all better in this process. Good luck to all the applicants!

Hi, I just was notified of my acceptance into UW's BSN program which should be very exciting, but I already started my online classes at Highline for their ADN program and have made some new friendships in my cohort. I know this extremely entitled, and I know I'm in a lucky/privileged position, but I waited three years to get into the ADN program for Highline as it's the most conveniently located and best financial option for me. I applied to UW because after waiting so long for Highline, I gave up and submitted applications for universities (all of which rejected me except UW). Then in February, as I'm preparing for the UW exam, I get accepted into Highline.

I just don't know what's right for me. I know my family would be so proud if I attend UW, but I'm not sure if the learning environment is best for me. However, everyone loves UW so there must be a reason it's top-ranked, right? I don't know anyone who attended or is attending UW, so I'm not sure what the teachers are like or whether they'll be able to work closely with me to succeed. I strongly value a close relationship with my professors and peers.

I posted this separately earlier so that veteran students from both programs could talk about their experiences, but I'd like to hear other opinions. What made you all decide on UW?

What did you decide. Will you be staying at Highline or joining us at UW??

I’m in disbelief that I got in this year after being rejected last year. I am SO excited! I’ve been dreaming of this for the last 9 years. I’m a mom to 3, currently volunteering and working full time in a local hospital. Anyone else in similar circumstances?

Hey there - we’ve started thread on our new facebook page. Join us there! https://www.facebook.com/groups/654282175373497

Hey there!

I have friends both in UW and highline nursing program and they all have good things to say about both. I think everyones circumstances are different and what you're specifically looking in a program, ex location/costs/goals.

hey guys just curious to see when your supposed to give notice if your taking your place for the program ?

We were given a week to submit our intent to to register...

I weighed my options and made my decision Wednesday that I'll be staying with Highline. Congratulations to everyone who got in and to whoever will be taking my spot! You guys are going to be fantastic nurses, and I hope to see you guys at clinicals someday!

Hey everyone!

I'm wondering if any of you know if there's a way to check how much the waitlist has moved, and when/if we'll receive a message about whether or not we moved off the waitlist.

Thank you!

@Charityyy I emailed them last week and they said they would send an update “in a couple weeks”

Has anyone gotten an update with the waitlist?

None here! It's been almost a month ?

Hey guys!
I believe I read somewhere on their website that people who were accepted have to deny or confirm their spot by May 15th. So I’m guessing waitlist will be updated next week?

has anybody by chance called them or have any news?!

thanks!

I emailed a few days ago asking about waitlist progress and how long they’ll be taking waitlisted applicants. Today I was told they’ll send information sometime next week. They’ll also be accepting waitlisted applicants until the day before the quarter begins.
