UW BSN 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello All!

I am applying the the University of Washington BSN program, starting in Fall 2017. I was curious how everyone's' applications process is going? Have you submitted your applications yet, what are your healthcare, and volunteer experiences? Do you feel prepared for nursing school? Why are you interested in the UW? Do you have any questions about your application?

I am just starting my application for the UW nursing program, starting in fall of 2017. I am an Emergency Dept. Tech. I really enjoy it, but I definitely want to learn how to be a better and more reactive caregiver, and I think nursing provides an excellent pathway to learn and develop great care giving skills.

Good Luck!

Hi everyone!

I just got an envite to the proctored essay! I hope to see you all there !

I just got the email invite to the proctored exam, too! Based on posts from previous years, they will probably be sending invites until tomorrow afternoon, so don't be worried if you haven't heard anything yet.

Now its time to brush up on some basic math skills!

I got the email this morning! So excited! Best of luck to all of you

Yay!! I got my invite. I guess I'll see you there. Good luck everyone.

I got my invite too! It has been making me happy all day! Congrats to everyone who got invited to the essay it is an accomplishment to get to this point... I have to say I was getting nervous as well! Anyone have any good suggestions to prepare for the essay?

Hello everyone,

I just found this forum and got an email on Thursday to do the proctored essay next week! I am extremely nervous, but the forums from years past seem to have great tips. Good luck to everyone going. ☺

Congrats to you! And welcome to the thread!

Hi Everyone!

I'm one of the unlucky ones who unfortunately did not make it to the second round of the admissions race for this fall. Just wanted to put some feelers out there and see if anyone who got invited to the proctored essay has NOT completed all of their prereqs. I have one remaining and think this could be a big reason why I did not get invited. I have a 3.8 in my other prereqs, a 3.4 overall gpa, a prior bachelors degree, a year of volunteer experience, leadership experience, AND I have been working as a CNA in an ICU for the past 2 years. I feel like my essay was great, as was my letter of rec. from my charge RN, and am 99.9% sure I filled out all of the application materials correctly. I am really stumped as to why I didn't make it past the first round. I do have quite a few W's on my transcript, but with the exception of one, they were all from over 6 years ago. Just want to get an idea of what I might possibly need to do to improve my chances for next year. The admissions committee won't be able to discuss applications on a personal level until the end of April. Thanks so much in advance to anyone who has some insight and congrats to all of you who've advanced to the next round. Good luck!

Hi Everyone!

So glad to join, rather than simply read everyone else's posts! I received and invite to write the proctored essay and, like everyone else, am feeling super nervous! I've been reading past years posts for the past few days and it has helped me get a sense of what to expect. Does anyone know if they are still using math/conversion questions? I had heard they weren't.
