Hey guys !
I'm applying and I'm really nervous, but excited to start my nursing program soon. Anyone else applying to UW?
InternetLurker,
I'm waiting for the scholarship application to open up on 4.15, but I don't have much hope for scholarships/grants because I'm OOS. The majority of the UW scholarships are for residents since UW is a public school. I'm pretty much resolving to work the 30 hours a week for the year so I can claim residency the second year. If I get into UW, I plan to stay in Seattle after graduation any way... Not too long before we find out, now!
I was asked to set up a myUW account. It's a preliminary thing and doesn't mean anything other than I applied as a transfer student.
"We're glad that you have applied to the Seattle campus of the University of Washington. We now invite you to set up your official UW account.
Why set up a UW account? If you become a UW student, you'll need one for lots of reasons. For now, it's useful so you can check:
If additional information is needed, your account will tell you that too.
We are in the midst of reviewing applications and on track to make and mail decisions according to our transfer notification period.
All the best to you,
David Sundine

Oh that makes sense! I am a returning student (got my BA from UW in 2010) so I already have a myUWaccount. I noticed you are applying/ want to apply for scholarships. I am in the same boat as I am returning back to WA and have been told I will have to pay out of state tuition rates for the 1st year. It is so much money!! Another great place to look even though it is a tad bit more competative is at the ANA website as they offer general scholarships too! Good luck!
Hey Shelly, I agree,
i hope they send thier letter out Bec Friday... Sooner the better!
They have been sending out their letter on the Friday on finals week for Uw for the past two years.... So I have a feeling they'll send it out this Friday ( finals week at uw).
haha but it's just a feeling

Shelley, have you applied to any scholarships? Although a lot of scholarships are due during winter months, there are plenty still available. I honestly haven't thought too much about the financial aspect of UW even though I should. I am hoping that financial aid will cover most/all of my costs(besides books) because I am low income but I know it's kind of silly to rely on that. I did apply for a few scholarships so hopefully that will help. I hate that it costs so much, so unfortunate. I don't think student loans are really fair either but that's a whole different topic lol. Perhaps your aid package from UW will give you more clarity on what option is right for you. Good luck!
