nat0306, I agree with what kaleaud stated. If you cant volunteer at a nursing home, I suggest you switch to a unit that allows a lot of interaction with nurses (Tele, ICU, ER). I volunteered in a day surg unit and mostly sat at a desk but then I started volunteering in a tele unit and got so much direct exposure to patients and nurses. I would also recommend you take notes on your accomplishments and hardships throughout your volunteering experience to refer to later on, it will help greatly. I had the Tele charge rn write my letter and to make things easier on her, I refereed to the notes throughout my volunteering experience to answer the letter questions. Lastly, make sure to allow enough time for your nurse to write the letter (couple of months in advance). I hope these tips help you! Good luck.

Shelley, have you applied to any scholarships? Although a lot of scholarships are due during winter months, there are plenty still available. I honestly haven't thought too much about the financial aspect of UW even though I should. I am hoping that financial aid will cover most/all of my costs(besides books) because I am low income but I know it's kind of silly to rely on that. I did apply for a few scholarships so hopefully that will help. I hate that it costs so much, so unfortunate. I don't think student loans are really fair either but that's a whole different topic lol. Perhaps your aid package from UW will give you more clarity on what option is right for you. Good luck!

Yes, I got the same answers for the last two math problems as you. I just assumed it was a he (hopefully I wont get disqualified because of that ).

shelleybaumer, same here! As I was brainstorming what I can put under my strengths, I realized the patient wouldnt be able to talk whatsoever. So I wrote about how my strength would understanding non verbal cues and providing clear communications besides talking (writing, images etc). I also wrote about how Id be able to adapt quickly to any health changes since he did have an infection and also might have withdrawals from drugs or mood changes due to his chemical dependency.

I understand. By the time I started writing my final draft there was 20 minutes left and my hands started trembling. It felt like there was so little time . It was very nerve wracking. Are any of you still working on pre-reqs and if yes, will you be sending an unofficial transcript at the end of the quarter or just wait for UW's response?

How did you guys go about explain scenario questions 2 and 3? I broke them down by stating how dealing with patient in scenario one will help me professionally and personally by giving one to two examples for each. Then I wrote what my biggest challenge would be but I stated some possible ways to over come it at the end. My final ended up being exactly two pages. I thought I did well on the math portion as well but I just remembered I put 10.275 for question one...

Hey happy unicorn, if the medication comes in 50mg/kg wouldn't you multiply 25.5 kg by 50mf to get the total mg needed for the appropriate weight? Then divide the mg by 1000 to get the amount of ml needed. That's what I did but I could be wrong lol. I chose scenario 1, hopefully I did well. I'm super nervous

We actually had a former PhD nursing student from UW at my college and he said that the acceptance envelope is quite small whereas the rejection one is thick.

Interesting! The confirmation email for my electronic copy doesn't state Feb.6th. However, they sent me an additional email saying that due to so many applicants they are not able to assign a confirmation code to everyone. Which is frightening! I wonder how many applicants total they had this year.

Where was the typo included? I never received anything that stated emails about the proctored essay will be sent out on the 6th, which makes me kind of scared.
