Bellevue College Fall 2019 ADN Hopefuls
Hey! I saw your review on BC and was wondering what college you switched to and how you're liking it so far? BC was my first choice, but after reading your review I don't know if I want to get into that. I'm applying for winter 2020 so if all goes well, and this offer is still available for the books and scrubs I'll message you!

adn/bsn app debacle...
I live in Washington so it's a bit different because we can get our CNA at 16 and most people require a high school diploma/GED but I know many places even hire sophomores. For nursing schools, I have a summer birthday so I would graduate at 17, but turn 18 before fall quarter so it wouldn't be a problem! I also know about the requirements for my schools. All ADN programs in my state want you to have everything done while the BSN programs give some leeway which is what made me hesitant because it would be ideal to apply for them all at the same time.

adn/bsn app debacle...
Hello all! I'm currently a 1st year pre-nursing student finishing off my last quarter!! I know this seems pretty early to think about applications and such, but this has been bugging me lately. I'm doing dual enrollment right now so I'm taking classes at my local college whilst in high school. I was hoping someone could give me advice on whether I should apply with the next pool (fall 2018) for bsn/adn programs or wait till 2019. I'll be done with my pre-reqs before the fall of 2019 and I'll be 17 when I graduate with my AA next year in June so time definitely isn't a problem. I live in Seattle so I know BSN programs are super competitive here but my gpa so far is pretty good although I'm taking A&P 1 right now so who knows if I can keep my 3.9 gpa! Anyways to sum this up, does anyone have any similar experiences or know if I should apply after i've finished my pre-reqs and not while I'm still doing them? I plan on getting my CNA this summer and volunteer @ a hospital if that helps at all :) Thanks!

Seattle Children's Pay
I don't know what these other people are saying but Seattle Children's DOES offer free parking as far as I know at the river parking lot! I'm a volunteer there and even I'm able to park there. They also provide free shuttle services to and from many different locations like the UW Link Station.

Pre-nursing classes
I personally think you should. Even if your ADN program doesn't require it, it will save you time in the long run when you hopefully pass your nclex you'd want jump straight into a BSN program instead of having to worry about those classes. If you end up not taking the extra classes all that matters is that your ADN program is accredited then anything they require should be fine!

Pre-nursing classes
I live in Seattle and ADN programs here require CHEM, PSYC, A&P, and MICRO literally all the hard sciences! So I don't know if it's just your school or not but most ADN schools don't play when it comes to prerequisites they're usually the same as BSN programs.

can a non-native speaker do well in nursing school?
I know this post was made a long time ago, but I thought I should still comment my opinion. My mom is an RN and English was her second language. When she came to America she started from the bottom and took ESL classes while raising 5 kids. She still believes to this day she isn't fluent in English although I can perfectly understand what she says. It wasn't easy, but she had the drive and determination and made it through nursing school and passed the nclex on her first try! I'd like to say if she can do it, so can you!

Hospice or hospital volunteer?
No, I think it's completely fine since most people who volunteer want the experience for school and what not. I'd say ask when the interview is over and they say do you have any questions!

Lets Be Friends
Hey! I hope you do great in nursing school! Don't let it take over life and stress too much about it, I'm sure you'll do fine :)

Lets Be Friends
I was really into becoming a CRNA last year!! but now my heart is set on becoming a cardiac nurse cause I don't think I have the time or money to invest in grad school. It's probably going to change again I'm a very indecisive person.

Hospice or hospital volunteer?
Depends on the type of position you'd get volunteering. If you're always going to be around nurses and not stuck with limited to no patient contact I'd say go for volunteering! But if you're just going to be checking donations and making deliveries go for the CNA. Being a CNA gives you actual hands-on experience on what a nurse does since that's basically what you learn in your first month or so of nursing school. Also, you'll always be around nurses and might be able to get one of them to write you a letter of recommendation once you're ready to start nursing school!
