UW BSN program 2015
Hey Shelleybaumer, I don't mind sharing my stats. My GPA is 3.2 and I have 1500 hours of healthcare experience, and around 500 hours in leadership experience. Most of my nursing experience came out from working as a CNA at a nursing/rehab home. The place that I worked at was super demanding and very hard (physically and mentally), but it all made me the strong CNA I am today! When I first applied, my GPA was around 3.0 and I think my healthcare experience was around 900 hours? Before I decided to apply again, I went back and talked to the advisor to find my weak points on my past app. My letter of rec, gpa, and resume were all weak. To raise my GPA, I retook some courses (there were only so many courses that I could have retaken because I retook others before) and I also did very well in my other major's classes.

Hey nat0306, Hey, I know how hard it can be to get to know an RN at a hospital that you volunteer at. I was once there too. For me, after volunteering, I started to work at a nursing home and thats the place where I found the RN who wrote my letter of rec. Working as a CNA, there were so many more opportunities to get to know the nurses because you have to communicate and work with them a lot. If you can't work as a CNA, I recommend volunteering at a nursing home. My friend who's currently doing that is getting to know the nurses and she likes it a lot better than when she was volunteering at the UW med center. When you are looking for a nurse who's gonna write your letter of rec, make sure you find someone who cares about your nursing career (that way you he or she is gonna spend quality time on your letter of rec)! And I don't think the length of knowing the nurse really matters because the I became close with my nurse in about 6 months. And make sure when that nurse writes your letter of rec, that it is detailed. when I first applied, my letter of rec was really vague and short, but the second time I applied, my letter of rec was super detailed, around 2 pages.

I got in! I live right next to UW, so those of you living in Seattle should be getting them today... Last year, I was rejected by SU, SPU and UW. And this year, I was also rejected by SU. I'm so glad I re-applied to UW. I was so close to just giving up after being rejected from all the schools that I applied to. Also,@Decapili12 -, its not necessary true that you'll get into the proctored essay if you have all the documents. I applied last year, and I submitted all the correct documents, but I did not get through the proctored essay. There is an online information session by Carolyn Chow (the head admission director). I really encourage you to listen to that! It is really helpful. Here is the link: https://nursing.uw.edu/admissions/bachelor-science-nursing-bsnaccelerated-bachelor-science-nursing-absn

Hey, i got 12.75 for the first one. Did anyone get .5 for the second one and 8 for the last one?? after I was finished with the essay I have to leave right away so I had no chance to ask anyone:// about the essay.... I thought it was difficult. I was legitimately starring into the prompt for a good 10 min... I chose the first patient. And the scenario didn't specify if the patient was a he or she so the whole time I had to write her/him or he/she which was kind of a hassle lol. also, I think this year we have less people (238) in the proctored essay than last year? So I guess that is a good thing? Anyways, cheers to a long long time waiting!

I'm so glad I found this thread! Never knew something like this existed. I received my email today too! This is my second time applying. Last year, I did not receive an invitation to the proctored essay. Does anyone know how the acceptance letter looks like? Obviously its going to be in an envelope... but is it those letter size envelopes? Rejection letter is a very thin envelope.
