UTMB Summer 2018

I just wanted to start a group for those applying to UTMB nursing summer 2018 start! I didn't see a thread and figured there was some of us who could use one!

I have already taken my teas and will be submitting my application soon! This would be a great place for us to compare timelines and answer any questions I'm sure we all have! I look forward to hearing from other applicants.

Well, I got accepted at UTH! My interview weekend is turning into a mini vacation!! í ½í¸‚

I felt like my interview went well. Most of the questions are situational. Things like "if you encounter this situation, how would you handle it?" I had a few of those. The interviewer does not give you any hints to whether they like your answer or not. Well mine didn't at least. My advice to you is, be sure of your self. Don't go in timid or answer anything with "I think." Answer confidently and surely. Let them know you are sure of yourself. They said it can take up to 4 weeks to hear back, but they assure you it's absolutely fine to call and check if you haven't heard anything for a while. It wasn't as personable as people made me think it would be. It is definitely professional questions and answers. So don't go in thinking your having a casual conversation. Be professional! I'll let y'all know as soon as I hear something! Also, make sure you know your personal statement. They do ask you questions from it! That's all I can think of. Best of luck to everyone!

There were like 7 in my group I think. But yeah. It was a little nerving :D

the interview:

they ask about your personal statement. mine asked about specific parts, and had me elaborate on it. I was also asked why nursing, what my study habits are, what i struggled with and how i dealt with it, how did i realize what nursing is all about, what challenges do i foresee in nursing school, where do i see myself in the future, what i plan to do after i graduate. They also gave general scenario based question and about teamwork. My biggest tip: be authentic! it's good to be concise with your thoughts, but don't be too reheorificed & unnatural. they really want to make sure you're a good fit for the school. come in prepared and confident!! :) goodluck everyone
