I just wanted to start a group for those applying to UTMB nursing summer 2018 start! I didn't see a thread and figured there was some of us who could use one!
I have already taken my teas and will be submitting my application soon! This would be a great place for us to compare timelines and answer any questions I'm sure we all have! I look forward to hearing from other applicants.
do you mind sharing your stats? also any volunteer experience? someone in the spring forum theorized the first ones to be invited are the high gpas and tea score students. Also congrats to everyone that received an interview!
I do not have the highest gpa. I would tell you but I'm not able to look it up on nursing cas or my star. I also have little to no volunteer hours. I think the thing that always sets people apart are their personal statements.
There is no system or order to the way they pick who gets an interview during which wave. At least in my opinion. I do not have a high GPA or high TEAS scores but I truly think that personal statements set you apart. I think I got legit like an 80 on the TEAS overall and my GPA ranges somewhere at 3.3~ but I'm not exactly sure and don't really care to pay too much attention. Also I turned in my application at the very opening of the cycle.
Getting so nervous for my interview on Friday!!! I figured out there is no point in trying to "plan" my responses because I know something completely different will come out of my mouth! Good luck to everybody else!
I also have my interview on Friday at 10:30! I am sooooo nervous!!!! Maybe I will see you there, ahhh!

I got an interview invitation yesterday and scheduled it first thing this morning! I'm feeling so hopeful since it's the first round and last go around I had an interview in the fourth round for the waitlist :-) like someone said before they have waves of interviews so don't feel hopeless! It's just a waiting game with UTMB and it SUCKS. Good luck to everyone interviewing! Some low down on the process.you arrive and wait for your interviewer. Arrive 20 minutes early because during that time you get to talk to someone from the admissions office and get all your questions answered!!!! Then your interviewer will come and they'll walk you to their office. Be sure to review your personal statement. I'm not sure if they read it before or after but when I was asked about it my interviewer asked "if there's one thing you want us to know from your personal statement, what is it?". It wasn't stressful and really felt like I was just having a regular conversation with her. Also my interview is on November 10th at 10:30am and there's also an open house that day if you're not traveling from far!
