UTMB Summer 2017

Published

Hi future nurses! I didn't see a discussion board for the summer term of 2017, so I decided to make one myself(: Let's use this forum to discuss grades, TEAS, and the application process. This does include venting! We all know how anxiety kicks in when there's a bump in the road. Good luck to everyone that is applying!

I can't wait for the application period opens. Anyone that is re-applying, any tips?

Quick question to everyone! How in the world do I send my transcripts? I have officially finished the whole application including my essay (which i am really proud of) I am scared of submitting my application just yet since I havent even sent my trasncripts! I am so confused by it. I have been to 3 different colleges :/ Can someone please help!

Tbey have to be sent directly to bursing CAS. You can go ahead and submit your application because it take 4-6 weeks for nursing CAS to verify everything.

There is a document to download and print for each college attended (I went to three also). You'll find them under the "colleges attended" sub category.

Print those and they have all the instructions on them. Including the address.

Has anyone heard anything from the school yet?

I received my supplemental application a week ago but that is it.

Does anyone know when interviews are?

To those that have applied before, maybe last term, did you have to resend in your official TEAS scores? Or did they carry over like transcripts? (assuming there aren't any changes)

So I applied for the spring 2017 to UTMB in May and was never told I was accepted, denied, or waitlisted. However, I received an email a few days ago saying I got an interview for the spring 2017 waitlist. I dont understand what this means. Is anyone else in the same boat? I assume this interview that I'm going to will be for conditional acceptance into the summer 2017 semester but just wanted someone else's thoughts.

That means if you interview and they like you you would go on the wait list. When people decide not to enroll in the program they pull from the wait list. You could still get in all the way until the first day of class.

I would still apply for summer and some people that were previously wait listed get accepted for the next term with out interviewing again.

I have already applied for the summer 2017 semester as well so that's good. I doubt I have a chance for the spring but fingers crossed. Thank you for your insight. @dani.dickinson

Feeling incredibly discouraged tonight! Long story short, I attended nursing school (ADN) in Mississippi when I was 20. My husband was in the military, deployed to Iraq and found out we would be transferring to Texas so I had to drop mid semester causing some bad grades. Since I have started again my grades have been stellar but because of my past my overall GPA is a 2.9 (unless they replace a couple F's with my repeat grades but I don't think they do). My science GPA is a 3.75, pre-req GPA 3.4 and my TEAS Composite was an 81. My sister and mom are both UTMB alumni so it is definitely a dream of mine. I just don't know how bad that over all GPA is going to mess up my application. Waiting on my transcripts to be verified so I can submit my application and hold my breath for an interview!

I went to the open house at UTMB and I fell in love with school. However, looking over all of the materials we received, I do not see myself as a competitive applicant just yet, so I have decided not to submit my application for the start in summer of 2017. I am planning to submit my application for the fall of 2017. I just need one more semester to get everything I need and I have also decided to retake my TEAS to get a higher grade. I am hoping that the sacrifice of waiting another semester will pay off! Good luck to everyone applying for the summer! The good thing is, I already have a head start for the fall of 2017 so that makes me feel good!

Hello!

I was a little bit confused and was wondering, do they send the supplemental application after you turn in your application on NursingCas? I recently submitted my application with transcripts and did not know if I should be receiving additional documents afterwards.
